    Hello

I am back from drs - she had a good old feel and told me to do some bending and moving to see if it hurt. She said it sounds like tendonitis, apparently it is really common in new mums which is why alot of us on here seem to have some wrist pain.
She said my wrist looks swollen which is prob why it has been a bit worse this week, apparently the best remedy is to not lift heavy things but with a baby you can't really do that! She gave me some painkillers, gel to rub on it and a strap thing if it gets really bad. Apparently, if it gets worse you can have physio and they use an ultrasound thing, but if you can manage it with painkillers etc it will improve as baby grows and the lifting becomes less frequent - hopefully!! Oh and the carseat doesnt help as I carry it with that arm but until he is big enough for the next one there isn't much I can do.

Anyway, re the sleeping. Sammie - he usually has a nap about 4pm, I know it isn't helping but sometimes I can't stop him as he gets so miserable and grouchy. Does anyone have any tips on how to keep them awake?!
Sometimes he falls back to sleep in the night on his own. He is a bit funny with a dummy, he only wants it when he is drifting off then spits it out.

Congrats to the babies who are sleeping through:T

Going back to work sucks!! Nutella - I am doing 32 hours over 4 days, I did want to do a full week over 4 days but it isnt feasable as I don't take my own car to work to save on the parking, so OH drops me off and picks me up on his way to work so we need to work the same hours really. Know what you mean re childcare being pricey, ours will be about 400 per month for 3 days a week, but I think someone was paying over 1000, maybe it was Mozzy? Soooo expensive. xx

Wow Mozzy that's a cracking lie in!!!!! Hope you feel better for it :)

Interesting about the wrist thing sunshine, thanks for letting us know.

No real tips on keeping him awake I'm afraid, I can keep George up for a bit just by carrying him round and talking to him but he gets progressively more and more upset until he just falls asleep, i think even if he was at a rock concert he'd still nod off when he's completely worn out.

I've finished my work for now :T but it's come over all grey so can't decide whether to risk going to town or not. Fancy a waitrose cake as a reward for finishing work

Headaches - I used to get terrible ones whilst on the pill during the week when you don't take them & get a period. I tried lots of different ones to no avail until a doctor suggested the mini pill, which you take every day with no breaks and hence don't get a period. Headaches completely disappeared - might be worth trying if you haven't already?...

Sunshine, hope you're able to manage the pain with what you were given - let us know how you get on and whether the strap thing helps. Re. work - 32 hours over 4 days sounds sensible and doable, maybe that's what I should do...? Will have a think.

Katie, you definitely deserve cake - go get some!

Not sure what your place of work is, but I work for a LA and they are quite good at allowing flexible working. It means I will do 8 hours per day rather than 7 and a half, I would like to do 8 and a half but I know it will be a struggle for me so will manage on the 32 hours pay I think. Working from home sounds good. x

We're looking at about £3 for the preferred childminder at the moment, which is really quite cheap! Plus £1.50 for a hot meal after the age of 1, or we can provide our own food. Annoyingly, tomorrow's childminder has now said she's not around in the morning when we'd planned to see her, and could we rearrange for the afternoon. However that now clashes with looking at the family photos we had taken last week, which I've already had to rearrange once as I'd thought the childminder was in the afternoon originally and then realised when I checked my diary that she wasn't. Grrrr. Don't think I can rearrange the photos yet again so will see what hubby thinks about timings and when he's free, or if we just give up on this childminder and go with the other one.

Yes, that was me with the expensive Childcare. £1127 for full time per month. I'll be paying £976 for a 4 day week. And, that is the CHEAPEST around here. Other ones where £1500 per month. Who has that!!!!!! But even if we move further out, that's further to travel to work, and therefore less time with Charlie and more money on rail fares x
