samuel uses a sleeping bag type thing, he doesnt like being swaddled so this is good for hi s his arms are free and it cant ride up over him like a blanket. i did use a blanket when he was in his moses basket as i could tuck it right in but he i sin his cot now.
jenjade sorry dont know what to say but you have to keep talking it through dont let it fester it will just wind you up more. x hugs.
you have 3 months to inform child benefit with the form and birth certificate and at the moment i believe you have u pto three months to inform working tax/child tax credits ut thats due to change soon to a month
bottles
r.e. once samuel has his last feed i boil the kettle and put the water in a bottle holder http://www.amazon.co.uk/Tommee-Tippee-Closer-Nature-Insulated/dp/B00151SN1Q(bought mine from asda i think tomme tippee around £5 for two of them) its generally just right for his next feed, i keep the powder in some storage pots http://www.amazon.co.uk/Philips-AVENT-Milk-Powder-Dispenser/dp/B000MMQO7O/ref=sr_1_4?s=baby&ie=UTF8&qid=1326138519&sr=1-4
so its all upstairs with me when he wakes.. i do this too when i am going out. if im staying indoors once he has his feed i boil the kettle and let it cool and is generally ready for his next feed. (have bought a seperate kettle just for his bottles as hubby drinks loads of tea and it would annoy me to keep doing bottles one at a time.
i have been known on occasion to heat it in the microwave if he has had his bottle and not drank a lot then wants it half hour later, but shake very very well incase of hot spots.
i wouldnt make up the water and powder for storing in fridge as i used to 12 yrs ago as recent studies have shown that bacteria grows quickly this way but in saying that both my boys used to have all thier bottles made up for the day each morning as recommended then eekkk how did they survive
does that make sense, sorry i know i ramble
missymoo8 samuel starts baby massage in a couple of weeks, cant wait , hopefully will ge to meet some other nice mums
hugs about injections, its horrid, samuel has his second ones soon and conveniently daddy will be at college again lol
lauraloo congratulations, well done you. unfortunatley thats what they do, it is very time consuming and tiring, i wouldnt try controled crying yet too many stress levels for them at this age isnt good. just imagine she has been cuddled and wrapped up in a nice and warm blanket/bed for nine months and fed exactly as and when she wanted/needed to, now she is in the big wide world, having towait till youve arranged yourself to feed, pulled about being dressed and nappied change, chcked in a bath. passed round left right and centre and hearing ll these big noises. wouldnt you whinge lol i do feel for you. hugs. x
i would also try feeding her for longer than ten mins on one sideas she may not be getting the hind milk which is fattier than the first bit so will fill her up more. my rule of thumb was i would feed from one breast and f the broke away or wasnt interested for very long if they wanted more within the hour i would offer the same breast
kira good luck and fingers crossed this might be the start of it.x
samuels just passed hi hearing test whoop whoop he had the things put in his ears again first but that came back not good then had some pads stuck to his head in several places and had some large discs put over his ears for the sounds. takes around half an hour for this and baby really really needs to be asleep. we had to go out for a drive to get him back to sleep to have this done but it ended up all ok so very relieved.
apparently she said its very common for parents with 3 or 4 children to be reffered because they think there is problems but its generally because baby has to get used to the noise and ends up blanking everyone out lol
ok so i think thats me caught up now, i apologise if ive missed any one, blimey i better never go on holiday i will miss too much imagine the post then lolnow proud mum to 3 handsome boys :j latest one born 10/10/11:j0 -
can anyone fill me in on when babies have growth spurts? Ellie just wants to feed all the time today
Finn has so far had growth spurts at 3 weeks, 6 weeks and 12 weeks. The 12 week one was by far the worst, he fed every 45 minutes around the clock for nearly 3 days...that was tough!
I also use sleeping bags, have only recently started using them and I'm fairly convinced he sleeps better since we ditched the blankets!0 -
Really struggling feeding roo, he still keeps coming off the breast and screaming and is then sick, then wants feeding, then when hes done that for an hour he carries on screaming, hes having really runny poos too
hes asleep now but i know hes going to scream when he wakes up, really dont think im in for a good night. it took me all morning to get a shower which i finally managed at 1 o clock, really worried about having to be up out and dressed by 9.30 tomorrow.....

Jen, if I were in your shoes I'd be livid too! I can understand his boys wanting their photo taken with Ellie, but why did his ex have to be holding her??Wonder Womble,
Sorry to hear you are having such a rough timeDoes your hospital offer a counselling service about the birth? I know ours does, but your baby needs to be 6 weeks old before you can request an appointment. I'm going to go to ours as my birth did not go to plan at all and I was a bit shell-shocked by everything. When I spoke to one of our community midwives she said she would recommend going to something like this as soon as you can so any issues you might have with the birth can be discussed and you don't dwell on them and turn them into bigger issues.
Thanks Mancbird,I have a leaflet for something called birth reflections. I need to ring and make an appointment. What i'm thinking off doing is feeding her, winding her then nappy change, cuddle then moses basket. How long do you leave your baby to cry for?
Hey Laura :j We don't leave LO to cry, at this stage they need lots of cuddles and reassurance. My LO is 5 weeks on Wednesday and my RL BF told me she did controlled crying with her 2 from 4 weeks old, personally I think this is cruel, we won't be doing it until 6 months. Our LO is now on formula, what are the rules about making feeds in advance. We used a microwave sterilizer and have been given two different ways to make it up.
Just place the hot water (cooled after 30mins) in the bottles and leave at room temp and when due feed add the powder.
This is what we do, LO is quite happy to drink it at room temp.0 -
