not posted on here in ages!
i'm having a !!!!py day/night of ithence posting at stupid o'clock. i've only had 3 hours sleep and i don't think i'm going to get anymore, usually when lily is up at this time that's it for the night
haven't seen the husband since sunday night as his disabled mother is ill, she's now in hospital and he's gone with her. lily decided yesterday would be a good day to start a growth spurt and fed all day, during which i had to try and feed myself, have a bath, walk the dog and stay hydrated all while having the life sucked out of me, with no help. not easy when lily starts crying 10/20 mins after finishing a feed because she's hungry.
the husband will come home at some point, say he's tired and go to bed, a luxury i don't have as lily will only sleep in the carrier during the day, but if it's anything like yesterday, she won't sleep at all.
funny how his tiredness always trumps mine. he often asks if i can leave hm to sleep as he's got xyz to do, as if looking after lily doesn't require any sleep at all and isn't as important as his xyz!
sorry for the rant, i'm tired and i know i've got to do it all again with no help.0 -

Haha thanks for sharing that Jenjade lol its funny what tiredness does to you, it just took me 4 attempts to put the right pin number in at the petrol station - couldn't remember it for the life of me!
So yesterday was day 1 of bath feed bed routine for Finn, didn't go well... chucked him in the bath at 8pm with the Johnsons sleepy time bath stuff, pj's on the radiator nice and warm for afterwards - that all went fine, into his grobag for a feed, fed him lying down for a good 20 mins and then he dozed off (cue me almost jumping for joy it had gone so well) so I went to pick him up to put him in his cot. Which is where it went wrong. He woke up and then screamed for the next two hours, fed another two times before he finally gave in at about 10.30pm (which is the time pre-routine he would normally sleep *roll eyes*) all in all I think the whole process upset him so much that caused him to have a really carp night, up at 1am, 3am, 4.15am and 6am. I'm expecting him to be absolutely shattered today because he was awake all day yesterday - even in the car on the school runs, he didn't even dose off until 8pm!
Anyway, I'm determined to persevere and try to reclaim a bit of the evening for me time! If anyone has any input or ideas on what I've been doing that would be great
Jenjade - did you speak to OH about things?
Little Angel - sending hugs your way xxx
Missymoo - hope Roo settled ok and you got your shower this morning
Mirror - thanks for the cluster feeding link! That explains loads!!
I know it sounds cruel, but I'm sort of looking forward to Finn's next lot of injections so I can give him a dose of calpol and get a bit of sleep! Feel very selfish for even thinking it, but I'm knackered!0 -
Oh I've been meaning to ask if anyone has done mother and baby yoga?0

Winnie in pooh - Poppy didn't start going to bed at a reasonable time till she was about 5 months. I definately think its worth persevering with the bedtime routine though. We didn't start this till later and think we should have started earlier and would have helped.
You could try the baby whisperer shh pat , so pat and make shh noises while asleep and then continue as you transfer into cot. It makes the transfer less of a shock. I also find stroking her cheek once she is in the cot helps her relax again. Poppy is older so not sure if would work for such a little one but might be worth a try.0 -
Thank you everyone for your advise.
We were up again 10-2.30 then 5.30-6.30. hope its not gonna start to get into a routine! So i've managed 4hours sleep, will try and nap this afternoon.
Spoke to a midwife and she said that it is just a case of feeding her when she wants.
I do try and feed her for more then 10mins. she only seems to do that at night and sometimes i can't seem to wake her to make sure she is finished and full.
She was awake for about an hour earlier.
What do you put your newborns in during the day? Stay in the moses basket or bouncy chair?
I thought newborns have to be a certain weight to be put in a sleeping bag. Erinna likes to be swaddled so i may invest in a swaddle blanket. Erinna has been waking up and sweaty, the midwife suggusted to put her in a vest and a blankets, the blanket does go round twice.
Really not looking forward to OH going back to work. I know we still got 1 more week. Also, need to try and have her more settled at night or OH will really struggle at work as he does quite a physical job.0 -
good luck winnie, pat and shh works for us, samuel is finally turned the corner on his cough and cold so as of last night am staring his routine again as he has got sed to sleeping almost upright on me on the sofa for the past week and half where his cough was so bad, i couldnt lay him down cause he just coughed and choked constantly.
last night went well, down for 11 up at 4 then straight down again till 8. just hope it continues
each layer of blanket counts, so if you wrap it twice its 2 blankets for instance.
i used moses basket or chair but i know a lot of people will only use moses basket for night time sleeps so baby knows the difference (im not sure they do when very small but each to thier own)
if not feeing for long and hungry again within the hour try offering the same side o she get the thicker milk.
samuel didnt like his swaddle blanket if you want i can send it to you for postage
hubby snapped at me earlier cause i went out to get some shopping and drop eldest lunch and rugby kit as he forget, ended up having a meeting with his teacher so was out for an hour and half. walked back in, he snapped at me with sarky comment so i burst into tears. well that soon stopped him lol havet been emotional for weeks but yesterday and today even a soppy advert can start me offnow proud mum to 3 handsome boys :j latest one born 10/10/11:j0 -
well last night topped the charts as one of the worst nights, i got an hour and a half sleep, am exhausted0
