Winnie our LO's are the same age. I am similar in that I can be up many times a night, but i have no problem getting him to sleep. It sounds like your LO is going to bed a bit late and is overtired as that is one reason they will have a disturbed night. If they have a little nap on/after the bottle then they wake up (cos of being lifted) they will find it harder to get back to sleep as the nap has revived them a bit, and of course will struggle to go to sleep by himself as he is used to a lovely cuddle and warm milk to send him off to dreamland.
I do the last feed around 7pm and put D to bed about 8, in a grobag. I have never let him sleep on the bottle, mainly because he is a bit refluxy and needs time for burps etc or he would be very windy through the night. Talk about a silver lining as it has really paid off in that he is always awake (although sleepy) when put in his cot and takes himself to sleep. At the first sign of a yawn or eye rubbing, I put him down for naps or bed as if they get overtired it is so much harder to get them so sleep. Shush pat works well, and even just shushing and kissing his little nose and cheeks seems to settle D quite well.
I then dream feed him at 11pm but this is starting to disturb him, and he is restless from 1:30am onwards, and I know for sure that he's not hungry. Am thinking of stopping the dream feed but worried he will be up at 4am then with hunger. Anyone else having problems with a Dreamfeed or find it works well?
Have bought a Ewan dream sheep. Hope it gets delivered soon and i hope it works!!!First Baby born January 2007

hugs missymoo, as soon as baby shuts thier eyes you do so too. x it will get better honest
i also find, putting a hot water in his cot before he goes up helps him snuggle down as its already warm. x obviously take the hot water bottle out when you put them in lolnow proud mum to 3 handsome boys :j latest one born 10/10/11:j0 -
Well I took Jacob for his immunisations and he wailed!! It was so upsetting and I felt awful. He's now quite tetchy so I've given him some calpol and an extra feed and have put him down to see if he'll go off to sleep. We're also being referred to the paediatrician about his tongue-tie so will wait for that to come through.
Jacob always goes down in his crib awake after his feed at night. Last night DH decided to film him with the camcorder on night vision. Jacob was wiggling about for a while and then he just stopped and turned slowly and looked down the lens of the camera as if to say 'I know you are there'!! It was hilarious I had to put my head under the pillow I was laughing so much at the expression on his face!!Thank you to everyone for sharing competitions!0 -
oh missymoo sorry to hear that you had a bad night. hope you have managed to get some rest.
Winnie- other half usually comes over mine to sleep on a monday night and last night he didnt come over no text nothing. i think he is sulking! The sad thing is i am actually enjoying the space. He want me to put Ellie on bottles so he can have her at his house to sleep etc and i wont do it yet as she is only 2 weeks old and i want her to breastfeed for at least 6 month. I feel pressured. to be honest i have bent over backwards to keep him happy since Ellie arrive regardless of how tired, how much pain i am in etc and i am quiet enjoying the space! think it is safe to say thing are not looking good.
i text him at 12.30 to say the health visitor had been and update him on how Ellie is doing and he has not replied!
He is trying to make me feel bad for being annoyed with him. I cant be bothered with it. But i really want him to see Ellie
on a lighter note health visitor has been. Ellie has put on 1lb she now weighs 10lb 4 oz and everything else was fine!

Do not give in on the breast feeding Jen, if it's what you want to do, why should you put her on bottles just so he can have her  What a selfish attitude. Let him have his sulk, especially if you're enjoying the peace
Also way to go Ellie on putting on the weight
xx

Hope everyone is okay. Good luck Kira, hopefully you'll go naturally before Wednesday.
Wanted to ask about bedding. I have a fleece swaddle from TK Maxx which the LO loves but my midwife was concerned that he'll get too hot. What does everyone else use? I don't particularly want to use a blanket especially as the LO is a right fidget, i'd be at my wits end.
Kimmy
I can see what the MW means here i find fleece really hot and have to strip off if I ever wear a fleece outdoors and then come in to a warm room, I didn't swaddle my dd properly as she kept coming lose after a while but it did seem to help her sleep/settle before she escaped.lol.oh missymoo sorry to hear that you had a bad night. hope you have managed to get some rest.

Jenjade can I echo the support you are getting and say if you feel that you would like to keep baby breast fed for 6 mths thats not at all unreasonable. My DD is 7 mths now and I've only just started to be able to leave her with her father for more than an hour (more due to his than my preference) but she is still largely breastfed and will be weaned at her own pace. Tbh I'd say to do overnights away from mum at under a month could be incredibly disruptive and stressful to such a young baby - never mind having to alter feeding patterns!MSE PARENT CLUB MEMBER.ds1 nov 1997ds2 nov 2007:jFirst DDFirst DD born in june:beer:.0 -
Aww missymoo, hope you sleep beter tonight!
Jenjade I can't believe your OH actually asked you to give up breastfeeding just so he could have him overnight. Maybe he thinks this would help you get somme sleep but mostly i just think how selfish of him!!! I'm a big believer in calling the first few months the fourth trimester, especially with breast feeding when baby is so reliant on mummy. And you are doing so well with the weight gain that it would be such a shame to give up bf. I just couldn't have contemplated being apart from baby at night for the first 3 months and ink Daniel would have missed me too!
Hope he grows up a bit and starts putting you and baby first!!
I have some mum and baby yoga DVDs but haven't actually used them yet Winnie. Also have bought some exercise DVDs from amazon. Ten minute pilates perfect body, ten minute belly buster and ten minute tone up. Going to try and do ten minutes every day. I have put on weight these last 2 months and not got rid of the jelly belly. Plus already struggling to carry the 16lb Daniel about, so doing some strength exercises should help my back!
DD told me she thought I had another baby in my tummy as it was so big!!!!!!!!First Baby born January 2007

Alison...glad Ewan is on the way. Just to warn you - when the batteries go it makes a right racket! Happened after the dream feed last night!! Nightmare, esp as you need a little screwdriver to change batteries over.
I too wondered about dropping the dream feed but instead I've bought it forward. I now do it at 9.30 and for some reason it seems to be helping. He's starting (touching every piece of wood possible) to sleep till 4ish then I feed again and that settles him till 7. Perfect! Worried now I've jinxed things.
Let me know if you ditch it. I'd be interested to know how it goes.
Missy - really sorry you're struggling. Does your LO seem in pain?0
