Bailey this is what I do - make up 2 or 3 bottles at a time of just boiled water but put 1oz less in them than I need. Then, when feed is due, I boil the kettle and add the last 1oz of boiling water so that the water is warm when the powder goes in. I've had 3 babies and this is the method that suits me best. But everyone is different. Jacob won't take cold milk so it has to be warm to almost quite hot for him - fussy boy lol!

I've also been known to stick the bottle of water in the microwave for 30 seconds to warm it up - as long as it's shaken to get rid of hot spots I don't see the problem.

That sounds really good, I might try that. At the moment I'm just making up each bottle as I go as she is in a pretty good routine atm so I know when she'll be looking each feed. If I'm out and about I'll make a bottle up and put it in the insulated warmer if I know she'll be taking it within the next hour or so, or else just take a sterilised bottle and a carton of formila that I can heat up when I need to. I always have those wee cartons in the house and if I'm caught out and haven't time to prepare a bottle I just heat one of those in the microwave and shake it well.

Tut tut on him.... Definately see why you are upset with him. The only mitigation i can think of is that he must have just been overwhelmed with pride at his beautiful girl, and promises flew out of his head. Men, you see, generally cant hold on to more than one thought at a time... ;).

Kira you are thinking very logically for a heavily pregnant women!!!:rotfl:

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Hmm. well i can only suggest its cos my body is so useless and knacked now, that my brain is the only bit that still works.

I'm having nesting urges today, which i cant really act on, so have been watching DH doing the nesting for me- very frustrating. Half an hour of vacuuming the downstairs, and all he managed was the living room. The kitchen and stairs remain undone..

Oh, on the growth spurt thing, i'll have a look in my week by week book, next time i have to crawl upstairs to the loo, it definately says something in there. I seem to remember something about 2 weeks, and then 4-5 weeks, then again a bit later.

  • Hi Guys

Hope everyone is okay. Good luck Kira, hopefully you'll go naturally before Wednesday.

Wanted to ask about bedding. I have a fleece swaddle from TK Maxx which the LO loves but my midwife was concerned that he'll get too hot. What does everyone else use? I don't particularly want to use a blanket especially as the LO is a right fidget, i'd be at my wits end.

    Kimmy :D

I use sleeping bags Kimmy. Then they can't kick blankets off and they stay snuggly and warm. Get a lightweight one and if it's a bit cold you could put a lightweight blanket on him as well.

Glad i could help with the bottle making up lol. The only time I don't use that method is for his bottle first thing when we are upstairs. Then I just warm the water up in a jug with boiling water from the upstairs kettle.
