Re weaning every relative and his dog tells me different things, yesterday it was my boy was not satisfied with milk so I was told to give food at 2 weeks :0 this was the 1980's :0 she still does not realise that this is wrong etc I have been told numerous times to give him a rusk now! , also that I am feeding him too much (he's on the 25th centile) he just drinks little and often etc drives me bonkers !! My mother keeps going on about when he can try a chip ofgs!!! Why not a carrot no a bloody chip !!!
You wait till you get the 1960s mums! The 'oh you'll be giving him that milk with cereal in soon to keep him full'. Other half couldn't see why (as a breastfeeder and at about 3 days old) I took that as an insult!
Or 'how long are you planning on keeping that up' 'won't you be exhausted?' Not looking forward to my next visit now we've started trying food, I'll have to keep a close eye on what they try to offer him!
Also when people say helpful things like 'oh, starting a tooth I think', no, he's just entered the national baby hand swallowing competition. He can get both hands in at once, pretty clever, yes?
Went back to basics and tried the baby rice again this eve, he ate some.I could tell he actually recognised it as food, hurray!
Oh Lirin, not sure if this will amuse you? My mum a few years ago went in for a minor operation downstairs... the surgeon looked at her old stitches and, not in so many words, but basically said, what cowboy put these in, I'll sort those out while I'm here.My youngest brother was about 20 or 25 at the time.
Milestones... front to back rolls a few times, he's started twisting around trying to get stuff so may unintentionally go back to front one day. He sits pretty well, though goes over sometimes. Once or twice he's gone forwards from sitting and when I've rescued the arm that gets stuck each time, does a sort of crawling action, but flat on his tummy with his face pressed into the floor.
His latest trick is bouncing, he was so funny in the doctors today. He'd hear the door, and follow everyone in, bouncing on my knee waving arms and legs, waiting for them to talk to him. Then as they passed him, he'd turn back and try the next. He managed to get two to stop and coo at him.

Aimless, I will be having a look as soon as it stops hurting to see.... Why not? Half the staff in two bloody hospitals already have looked!
Rose is trying to master crawling. Patience is not strong in this little one. She gets up on knees and hands, spends a while rocking back and forth, and then- rather like The Pillow (daft Lab)- flops over to one side and goes to sleep.
Ro- My MIL is great, and is doing us a massive favour in childcare, but has the 1960's mode in full swing- she would have Rose eating a full adult dinner, if she could. Despite the lack of teeth.
Now I'm going to find something else to do for a few hours, the joys of nightshift!0 -

Hi ladies. Don't post on here because my dozy baby's STILL not here yet, but when it finally puts in an appearance, when can I take him or her swimming? Do they need jabs first like with letting puppies outside?
When they do go swimming are swimming costumes with nappies inside OK or is it better to use a proper swim nappy and a normal costume?"Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
If you use a normal nappy they'll try to absorb half the swimming pool and expand in a highly comedy fashion. Swimming nappies don't actually absorb (therefore don't put one on before you go to the pool or you'll have a soggy car seat en route) but just poo collect.
We took Erin last weekend for the first time and she was fine with a normal swimming costume (thought she'd fit the baby wetsuit we had but she's not quite big enough yet) and swim nappy on - and she's only past set of jabs number 1 (number 2's this week). Would have taken her earlier but for the logistical issue that swim nappies only appear to start from size 2, and even those you can only seem to get in the starter box with the "free" towel in!
Erin's respnse was to snuggle up to me in the pool, head on boob and promptly go to sleep in there.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -

Hello
Aidens in his cot again napping, he seems fine in there in the day, so we will try again tonight.
Think we might pop to town later when he wakes up.
We took Aiden in the pool on hols, I think the NHS guidlines say its fine to take them before jabs.
I have such a big pile of ironing to do, and he is sleeping but....think I might just browse the web instedMight look for a different job on some more money.
Hope everyone has a good day!!Little Man born 11 March 2012 :smileyhea
