hello hope everybody is doing well
Had an incident that may make some of you laugh
I have to soap LO's bottles in bicarbonate of soda before washing and sterilising them as the formula leaves an oily residue on them. Unfortunately I picked up the wrong tub in sainsburys and got a bit of a fright when adding the hot water as it started foaming and bubbling like mad! I had picked up baking powder by mistake! :rotfl:0 -
Thanks for the responses re the tongue tie, I'm going to see what the HV says when I go to clinic on Tues.
One thing about the colief is it gives him horrific nappies, I have had to bath him 3 times today as it was just everywhere, and by the time I got his vest over his head....it was a right mess, poor little thing. Hopefully it eases off a little as he is so much better with the drops and the nappies dont seem to be bothering him, I have lessened the dose of drops in his last feed to 2 rather than 4 to see if it makes any difference.
Jannine - how exciting that you are now weaningsounds like you will have a messy few weeks!!
Koalamummy - :rotfl:
We ordered a colour pack for our pram, we have the babystyle oyster, it came today and we have just put it on the carrycot, looks so lovely, but now we need some nice weather so he can enjoy it!!

Well that was fun and very messy! Its quite painful having banana spat in your eye! She did quite well though, took about 8 spoons of banana and seemed to enjoy it, she did pull some faces though! Gave her a bottle afterwards and we didn't have as much wriggling as usual and touch wood, so far she hasn't been sick! She's also had 2 big poo's in the last hour after being constipated for 3 days, so I've got a very happy, smiley baby!!:heart2: Newborn Thread Member :heart2:

Are you all planning on then putting baby in thier own room at this point? I'll miss him being so close to me
Final thing - anyone with a LO with a tongue tie? Aiden has one which they noticed when they discharged us from Hosp after birth, they said they will leave it for now as he is feeding fine etc. But we have noticed he seems to take in a little more air than some other newborns and he sucks really hard on the teats, sometimes they go inside and we have to take it out and wait for it to pop back out. We werent sure if the tongue tie is making him take in a bit more air and causing a bit of his colic...I am sure I read somewhere that one of the posters on here had thier LO's snipped?
I'm keeping CJ in our room for a while longer- she is 13 weeks now. Will probably move her into another room around 5/6 months, or when she needs to move into a cot (which we cant fit in our room).
Re:tongue tie. Yes, my LO had one, which i spotted in the hospital when she was born, but was told i was wrong by one of the midwives! I certainly think the TT made CJ take in more air, and also made her leak milk out of the side of her mouth as well as her "seal" wasnt as good, so she was having to feed longer to get the same amount. My HV finally looked at a visit, and referred me to the local TT clinic, where it was done at about 8 weeks. TBH, the reason they referred was that i was 100% Bf her. If i had been bottle/FF her, they wouldnt have done so, as bottles are "easier" for the babies. It is definately worth raising with your HV or doctor, but be prepared for a battle! Some areas wont release TT's at all unless they are really severe. There is always the option of paying for it to be done privately if you feel it is problematic and NHS refuse you.
hth!

I think I've shared this little nugget before, but at a pinch, because of the wide necks, vests will go down as well as up.And judging by the noise/vibrations i'm feeling as he's sat on my lap, I may well need to follow that advice myself shortly.

They certainly do, most clothes do which is lucky for with Poppy on her oxygen I can't lift anything over her head! Its such a habit that when she is eventually off the oxygen I'll probably still pull all her clothes down instead of up!:heart2: Newborn Thread Member :heart2:

Kira, wow. Both on the sleep and the size of CJ. Keep having to remind myself that she is less than 24 hours older than my munchkin, who is not yet at 11lbs nor grown into her 0-3 month stuff yet, we have plenty of leg room going spare. I know you've put it on fb, but what sleep training are you using? May well be worth doing as LO seems to have the idea of sleep and does long ones, rarely waking me more than once a night (she likes 3.30am) but more nights going through would be wonderful...
I read Andrea Grace "Gentle sleep solutions". Definately worth a read, as it has lots of useful info even if you dont decide to do any training. She was a trained HV and worked in an nhs sleep clinic, which i liked, and it lets you work up a plan that suits you, rather than a fixed regime for everyone.Married 13/03/10 #1 DD born 13/01/12!!

Thanks, I'll see what the HV says on Tuesday. He does leak a bit of milk from the side of his mouth, although it isnt loads. I dont think its too severe but if they think it would help then I would go ahead.

Back to the Moses topic, once LO outgrows his we will just take it out of the small crib it is sitting in and put him in the crib but it will only give him a couple of inches :rotfl: but every inch counts. Starting to think when he eventually outgrows crib will want cotbed in with us  can't bear the thought of him being too far away0
