sorry I have no helpful advice on your little one crying Mozzyc except to watch out for signs of reflux and to make sure that as best you can that all wind has been brought up.
Mirrorimage I know you have probably considered this already but if it is just your grill element that has blown they can be replaced usually quite cheaply without having to buy a whole new cooker.0 -

Mozzy.. sorry its so hard at the moment..
Cj did ALOT of crying in the early days. When it wasn't feed or nappy we were so confused but eventually figured out it was often wind - either trapped burps or struggling to parp or even poop. A gentle clockwise tummy rub followed by soft downward strokes on the tummy helped.
Don't underestimate how often lo will feel hungry though. They have teeny tummies! I often thought it can't be food, but it often was. Also its a big overwhelming world so lots of close skin to skin contact can help reassure and calm..Married 13/03/10 #1 DD born 13/01/12!!

Thanks Gilly, Kira, Mirror and Koala I'm so emotional lately, crying at the smallest thing.
Will try winding him more and tummy rubs. How do you all wind? He's a real wriggler, so find it hard with his little head going everywhere xDFD February 2012

Mine cried constantly mozzy but there was a reason for that. How is he feeding? Does he take his feeds well or is writhing about, arching back etc? Hes only little yet though and generally not awake for long periods of time so when he is awake is he just hungry? I know with A he still isnt awake much. Its pretty much awake and crying, feed him, change his bum, rock him, sleep. Then it starts all over again.
He seems to be fine feeding. He usually starts nodding off, but the munute we try wind him, he starts screaming again. Today he was awake from 6am-11.30am and wouldn't settle. So the part of my book that says they only really awake for 90min is wrong!
He's sleeping now, but will have to wake for another feed soon xDFD February 2012

I found winding over the shoulder easier when he was smaller. The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0

Mozzy, im still emotional!! Prob have a tiny cry every other day for no reason at all! Usually when my hv checks in with me...
I find winding over the shoulder works best too, but rubbing only as patting makes Cjs reflux worse. The belly rubs i usually did when lo was calm and relaxed on my lap after a feed.
And you are right- the books lie when they say they can't stay awake for more than 90-120mins or cry for more than 120...

My little darling was awake for nearly all of yesterday, except for a couple of hours when I was out and couldn't take advantage of it! I think the Infacol made him worse, as last night and today instead of painful farts we had bordering on full blown colic. I've had to put him in the sling to get some lunch, as he'll only sleep there or on his tummy over my knee or chest.
But yes, when they're new, they feed lots, it's nature's way of getting the milk going I think. Mine will try to get milk from anything handy if he's hungry, a finger, my arm, his own hand, so that's a handy hint to me if I'm not sure.I'm not very expert at winding, but the last couple of days I've tried putting him across my knee and rubbing his back, that's how I found he'd sleep there.
Useful when you're really tired as it is easier than holding them up and no worry about dropping them!

I dont know how to describe it exactly but reflux causes a very distinct breath smell if that helps you any. Weird as it sounds have a sniff at your little ones breath and you will be able to tell.
Thanks, I hadn't noticed any particular smell (except if he's just thrown up!). He will also sleep on his back a lot of the time, except at the moment when he's unsettled. My theory is that it isn't particularly colic or reflux, he just seems to get those sort of symptoms when he's trying to poo? He only goes every other day, and even longer once, and he seems to have a long period of upsetness until each one is out. He also doesn't like bottom end wind, and finds it uncomfy. Sometimes it wakes him up. So maybe just immature tummy that'll get better as he gets older?mirrorimage0 wrote: »aimless thats soooo not wierd i cant wait to have cheese on toast my cookers been knackered for ages just cant afford a new one whist its still cooking dinners lol.
We were the same! First the grill went, then the oven door wouldn't close properly so it took ages to cook anything, then finally the oven gave up and we only had the 4 rings. They were pretty slow to heat up too! Funny thing was, we bought it around the time lanky teen was born, one cooker per baby obviously.I've gone for ceramic hob, double oven with the big one being a fan one, oooh it's posh compared to the old one! I decided to shell out on something decent, ordered it for over 400 quid, and they couldn't get it. So I searched and all I could find was some on ebay with light damage. Cost me about £265 including the delivery, and the damage is as far as I can tell, just a weeny paint chip and tiny dent.
