Hugs Gilly - it will fly by before you know it. My DH went back to work after 1 week. I think once you get past the first day on your own, it's plain sailing. And then you'll get used to doing things your way and it will annoy you when DH doesn't do things the "right way" lol. Or is that just me?!

I know :( its my own fault I guess. He's been doing so much for both of us that I've not been used to doing everything, its a scary prospect.

I don't know who wanted to cry more when he left me or him :o

  • Good luck Gilly. DH is staying home for another week before he goes back, so that'll be 4 weeks in total. He'd have gone back tomorrow, but his parents and brother are visiting for the week, so he's staying around to see them. Hopefully they'll be so excited about the new grandchild that we can just go off and sleep while they sort out the nappies and everything.... Though that's not so easy with breastfeeding, and I haven't tried expressing yet!

Elliot has been feeding almost non-stop all morning. Have sent DH out for chocolate cookies as I feel in need of something sugary and incredibly bad for me. Still got about 4lb to lose before I get back to pre-baby weight so maybe I shouldn't be eating cake too often, but this is definitely necessary ;) I've still got 5 weeks before I need to fit into my work clothes again...

Well he went down good, and I've just managed to get half an hour of expressing done :D so that's good. Aslong as I can get him to settle and manage to express as much as possible I'll be a happy lady today. Going to attempt to get some breakfast (yes at this time) and wash and sterilise his bottles.

We have an 8 week old who is turning into a nightmare. She hasn't slept more than 90 minutes at a time at night since 6 weeks. OH is coming to the end of her tether.

Everytime we ask anyone we get the same answer 'growth spurt', which is such a cop out answer. The net is filled with people complaining their 8 week old won't sleep more than 3 hours....that would be heaven!

OH is breastfeeding so she's up literally all night and things are reaching breaking point. There's no problem with OHs milk, little one just wants to be nursed to sleep all the time!

We're considering just switching to formula so that we can stuff her full before bedtime, but we don't WANT to have to do that.

So before we give up all hope, is there any advice any of you can give?

    p.s. don't mention growth spurts :P

Cant really advise as our LO is almost 4 weeks but if a bottle of expressed milk (cant imagine how she could fit this in) or formula is what will restore some calm in the evening then go for it if you have exhausted all other support bf/Gp/hv etc. We bf/formula feed/express for our LO.
We combine feed as my supply is very low and LO lost weight at start of bf so we had no choice but to go this route.
Good luck! Sometimes we have to do things we don't want to but things turn out fine

I'm worried about DH going back to work on Tuesday, I've not been able to lift LO too much or change him, so I'm trying to figure out exact logistics. :/

I must say, we had 5 changes of clothes yesterday due to leakages of wee, and today we've had none. Daddy done all the nappies yesterday, what does that tell you :p
