Gilly - DD had terrible wind when she was a littlie and we could not relieve her for love nor money. We found Colief worked best for us. It's a tiny tiny bottle and you only use a couple of drops in the bottle, but it worked wonders :)

For anybody who is bottle feeding and struggling with lots of wind, it may be the bottles causing it. I was told by several health care providers when my girl was tiny that her colic was most likely caused by the wide neck bottles I was using. When I changed bottles the wind/colic situation changed for the better straight away.

We have that and are using it. We only got it yesterday so keeping fingers crossed :)

Hmm :( It's Tommee Tippee Bottles we're using, and they are quite wide necked. We have so many though, can't think how much they'd cost to replace :(

Gilly - I seem to remember the Colief taking a couple of days to kick in so hang on in there. Friends used Dr Browns bottles for colicky/windy babies and they found them good. But I think they are quite expensive. Have you checked the teats on your TT? You should be on the lowest number so its a slow flow so that DS isn't taking in too much air to cause the wind. If that makes sense! We used a mixture of TT and Avent bottles but I gave up on the TT bottles a few weeks in as DD much preferred the Avent. It's annoying when you have bought a load though!

Gilly those are the ones I was using too. :( I switched to Mam ultivent bottles and never looked back. She still of course got wind, but it easily brought up, and all of the colicky gripping pains disappeared.

We're still using the smallest teats, I think to be honest, a lot of it is down to him gulping the milk down, he's a hungry wee monkey. Sometimes he has no wind at all though, so maybe we just need to persevere. He is an angel the majority of the time :o

Gilly have you tried the next size up teat? It is usually recommended that you try that with windy babies. Apparently the faster flow minimizes additional air intake.

Before you know it, he will grow out if it and burp himself. As a novelty, now and then, I'll sit E on my knee and wind her like I used to and get all nostalgic about how long it took her to bring up some wind :)
