hv said she cant see anything wrong with baby, that if she was in so much pain, she wouldnt feed and she has gained good weight, try to feed her for longer to shut her- her words- give her a dummy.

A dummy's worth a try, isn't it? I tried a dummy with Freddie. Here's the result... it stayed in for enough time for me to quickly take this pic, then got spat across the room. Look at the horror on his face :D

    fluff.. freddy is gorgeous!!

Jade doesnt like them either..we decided this will be our last baby but even if i wanted more before, i would have changed my mind by now.
Tomorrow it will be 20 days of constant crying unless shes feeding or on a short nap. I do not want time to passquickly cos i really want to enjoyb her but the reality is different. Im even considering giving up BF so family can help out and im not alone dealing with it all. Maybe shes just one if those crying babies and will grow out of it but in the meantime i want to enjoy her...

  • Ahh fluff he is so cute! :) You are definitely a night time trooper!

morocha - I am so sorry for you that the HV wasn't more helpful. Our little one has a dummy and to be honest it solves about 75% of all the reason she cries. Sometimes I think she just wants a bit of comfort or if she has pain in her tummy it comforts her too. She doesnt need it to sleep with, in fact she doesnt have it at night at all. She spits it out if she wants feeding and keeps it in if she wants to (usually!). We would be lost without it to be honest. However, trust your instincts, if you feel something isn't right then don't be fobbed off.

Little Miss hasn't been the loo for about 36 hours now so she has started sicking up a fair amount of her feeds today rather than just a bit. The Gaviscon hasn't helped so I'm sure its not reflux, I think it is just literally being so full there isn't anywhere for the milk to go down. Poor baba.

Has Bamama been around lately? Hope all is well with her!
  • morocha - can you express or combination feed to give you a break? Don't be fobbed off, you know your baby better than anyone.

I'd get expressing and get someone to take her for half a day and just SLEEP. Honestly the world's such a different place if you've had some sleep.

    How old is she?

Wrap up warm, and get out walking. The pram might soothe her, you'll get fit and, more importantly, you won't feel stuck indoors. If she nods off, perhaps go in a cafe somewhere and have a sit down and a coffee. Or visit a friend/family. Don't stay in with her. It won't help your mood and who cares if she's crying? Babies cry. You're not a bad mum and it's probably not doing you any favours if you feel chained to the house.

And what about trying combination feeding? You're not giving up on BFing, you're just giving yourself a much needed break. Honestly, lovey, you're going to exhaust yourself at this rate.

If he doesn't want it, he won't have it, IME. Is there any particular reason you're so keen for him to have one?

Not all babies like dummies. If he doesn't want it, I don't think it's worth forcing the issue. I did offer my first two children a dummy, but both spat them out and cried. When I had my children it was very 'unfashionable' to have a dummy anywhere near your baby. It seems like they are becoming popular again, but I haven't got any for my new baby based upon my experience with the other children. I spent money on them back then and they just went in the bin.
