What age is he tazzyb? Sounds like it could be a growth spurt. 6 week spurt is apparently the worst and can come anytime between 4-8 weeks really.

Which brand of dummies have you tried, My LO would only take MAM or Avent. Was thorougly repulsed by TT and Nuby, but all babies are different :D so maybe try a different brand. Some babies are 'sucky' and a dummy won't do them any harm. Sounds like it'd do you both the world of good xx

He will be 5 weeks on Saturday. I have tried avent and TT dummys. It could be growth spurt, hopefully it's that and it is over soon he gets himself so upset. It is harder then I expected breast feeding

All you can do is persevere, he is probably spitting it out as it's not your boob :D He may take to it eventually. Mine didn't like them right away either, but we were advised to use one as it helps with reflux :) x

My lo had a growth spurt at 3+ weeks and another at 5-6 weeks. One day she was fitting in some clothes and two days later those clothes would be tight!

I'd try MAM dummy for newborn, the teat is different, smaller and does not resemble a nipple. It does not have a "handle" either, it's like a butterfly shape with a round button in front. Fluff's last pic of Freddie has one. My LO spits the TT, and I have not tried any other.

  • That's the one we have Marta.

I think either way of feeding babies is difficult both have different problems! Last week when we had to administer gaviscon by bottles I realised what a faff cleaning & sterilising bottles was. My hat was off to anyone who bottle feeds! Plus potential windy problems from
The bottle, Breast feeding is difficult in a different way but neither seem
Easy! I was so ready to chuck in the towel during the growth spurt though it seemed to last at least a week rather than the few days it was promised. What is he like our of the house tazzy?? My little one is grumpy after 2 hours between feeds in the house but can go 4-5 hours when out abd about in the pram!
  • A does that business of pulling away from boob crying etc, it's usually either a burp or a fart. If neither, I take her for a little walk into a different room for five minutes then try again.

Sorry to hear of the various problems some of you ladies are having. I've no experience with reflux really, gilly is your lady for that. ;)

Tazzy was it your gp or hv that diagnosed the pnd? Hugs, I had/have it too. If you've not spoken to your doc, do as soon as you can. I was prescribed anti depressants (there are some that are safe for bfing mums) and was also referred for a course of counselling, both of which really helped.

I've got a poorly little man, chesty cough and snuffly. Thermometer says no temp but I'm not convinced. So far I've had 45 minutes sleep tonight, he's been alternately screaming, trying to feed and dozing off on my knee. He's finally properly asleep on me but there's no chance of getting him in his cot. Got my iPad, iphone and Netflix. And I grabbed some biscuits but they're in the most crackly wrapper so not sure I dare try and get one out…

I will give the MAM dummy a go. He usually goes about 3 hrs out if the house. I try to get out as much as possible but the weather keeps conspiring against me. I don't drive so need DH to be available to go anywhere if its snowing or really bad wind or rain.

So it turns out this biscuit wrapper isn't as crinkly as I thought. 4 biscuits down and he hardly stirred. This isn't going to end well for my weight

Poor wee man keeps coughing in his sleep :(
