Spent most of the afternoon lowering the cot bed base to its lowest level after finding someone on hands and knees a couple of times this week overnight, and then sorting out MORE of her outgrown 9-12 month clothes since she's had yet ANOTHER growth spurt lengthways. I swear I'm going to rename this child Triffid!

pancakes , i forgot about them, there is no chance to have them now!...
Went to GP he said physically there is nothing wrong with her, but it is not normal that she cries all the time she is awake.
HV will come over tomorrow to weight her and then they both will decide the course of action...
he thinks there are 3 chances
    1 shes got colic
    2 shes got reflux
3- my milk is not filling her up and that is why she is grumpy ?

also the has a bit of thrush in her mouth he said.

Mororcha I want to slap your doc for the "your milk might not be filling her up comment". It's VERY rare to not produce enough milk, feeding issues are normally things like positioning, tongue tie, falling asleep before hind milk, etc etc ect.

The thrush won't be helping - poor baba! I hope the doc gave you both treatment for the thrush? You can end up passing it back and forth between each other otherwise.

Let us know how the weigh in goes tomorrow - and if you have BFing questions give me a shout! There plenty of us on here who can give you tips. How do you feel BFing is going?

If bubba does have reflux, sunshine and ladymorticia have both had success with infant gaviscon prescribed by their docs, Gilly knows a lot about reflux: the next steps! when it doesn't respond to gaviscon!

Between us I reckon we know a bit of everything, so please don't worry, let us know how the HV visit goes and we'll do what we can to help :) (hugs)

  • morocha - glad you are making steps. Its strange about the milk comment as I was told the same by a HV a while back which makes no sense based on the supply/demand thing. How old is she? Is it possible it could be a growth spurt?

I have a crying baby the last 2 days. Can't work out what it is! I suspect its overtiredness, she looks really tired but seems to be fighting the urge to sleep in the day or cat naps for half an hour here and there whereas she had previously had one big sleep of at least 3 hours a day. LOts of yawning too! Her windy belly seems to wake her up too which is a shame for her.

Considering the bedtime bottle again just to see if she will sleep any longer. Is it too much to expect an 8 week old to sleep longer than 3 hours without wanting to be fed? Im so fed up of people telling me their 8 week olds sleep through :eek:

Pancakes: lemon & sugar all the way!!

I think all babies are different moneypenny no matter how they are fed, we were every 3 hours at 8 weeks and he was formula fed. I don't know many 8 week olds who are sleeping through, 5 hours sleep is the definition of sleeping through according to the health professional

Moneypenny, my lo is 8 weeks and she definitely does not sleep through!! She managed 5h+ once and 4h+ twice, the rest has been mostly around 2.5h or 3.5h. She's very bothered by wind and trumping today, she has bbeen nodding off, screaming, going back to sleep and screaming again for the last 4h!! She wake us up at 6am every day with tummy pains and trumping. I feed her, put her in our bed and massage her belly a bit, then she sleeps for another couple of hours. Is there anything for wind in the tummy?

  • Martafgz my 3 week old has been doing exactly the same for the last 2 days. Squirming and straining in sleep and waking up obviously in pain. I have been massaging his tummy, burping him more often and using infacol. Any other advice would be great! x

Well DD was fast asleep during the check and only woke up when he was checking her chest, and still wasnt all there. She is so tired, sleep from 11-4 of course cos we were travelling by car and had to go to the hospital too. Arrived home at 4 and she is sleeping again, i am happy for her but part of me thinks now she will not sleep tonight and that will be a killer for me as i am already quite tired, she did not sleep much last night also.

I know about the comment, my milk is not filling her up... i mean, i have grown massive boobs lol !! thats how much she is drinking, and this comments comes from someone almost flat chested.
I have plenty of milk and if she does not feed for more than 2.5- 3 hrs my chest is so full it actually hurts. i do not think it is that.
Tomorrow they will weigh her and i so want her to have put weight on cos i am getting a bit paranoid about them weighing my daughter twice a week. I think also, the fact that she poo after every feed is not helping.

Thank you all for all your help.
She is the same today, i can tell her tummy gives her pain. So at the moment, i am trying gaviscon, giving her infacol for tummy wind AND this thrush medication ! Gosh, she is only 18 days old.
