I think also, the fact that she poo after every feed is not helping.

Totally normal, morocha. Freddie pooed after every feed when he was little. It was like a conveyor belt :D

Considering the bedtime bottle again just to see if she will sleep any longer. Is it too much to expect an 8 week old to sleep longer than 3 hours without wanting to be fed? Im so fed up of people telling me their 8 week olds sleep through :eek:

    They're ALL LIARS :D

Freddie's 7 months now and the longest he's ever slept is 3.5 hours. I think I've had a good night when he's only woken 4 times. Six or 7 is more usual  :D

Martafgz my 3 week old has been doing exactly the same for the last 2 days. Squirming and straining in sleep and waking up obviously in pain. I have been massaging his tummy, burping him more often and using infacol. Any other advice would be great! x

Try gripe water, you can get it from boots it's fantastic, sounds like maybe a touch of colic. Every time I gave my little boy it he would burp and trump away for 5 minutes and then drift off to sleep, thankfully it passes at about 16/17 weeks Hth x
  • I think at 8 weeks we were still jumping between 3 and 4 hourly feeds - but bear in mind we came home with a very rigid 3 hour schedule set by her time in the hospital that was just gradually lengthening to 4 hourlys by that point.

Was about 12 weeks when she started dropping night feeds - but she went through the night relatively early and I'll freely admit I got incredibly lucky with her in terms of her being a good sleeper and it was definitely luck rather than some expected norm she was hitting. I'm no liar (and it actually annoys me when people accuse anyone with babies who sleep of being so) - I'll just admit I got lucky on that particular front (but I'd have swapped some of the stuff we went through to get there for the sleep thing any day to be honest).

As for poo - the whole thing of the early weeks is that it's a neverending cycle of getting food in - and food getting back out in the form of pee, poo and puke (or all three simultaneously if you've got an advanced mensa candiate)... the only variety is WHO they pee or puke on that particular day (added bonus points for idiot health visitors).

Newbie joining the thread. My little one Finley was born 12/01/13 weighing in at 8 lb 8 oz. He is my first and a little chunky monkey and weighed 11 lb at last weigh in. Wonder what he will be this week.

I think there is a list I need to be added to?
  • Marta if you find a solution to trumps wind please share it! Little miss is struggling!

Thanks for the varying experiences on feeding at. 8 weeks!

Fluff - how come you aren't exhausted ? I feel terrible getting up st the second night feed!!
  • I have tried griPe water we get no burps or trumps but it does seem to ease pain and calm her down

Sleep has well and truly gone to pot here. She's now awake for at least 2 hours solid every night crawling, pulling herself up to standing and generally roly-polying around. It wouldn't be so bad if she just moved around her cot, but she'll cry until we pick her up, then continue in our bed and then cry again when we stop her from crawling off the side of the bed and falling onto the floor! I'm knackered - was up from 1.30 to 4.45, then had to get up at 6 to go to work. I really hope this is just a phase brought on by excitement about new-found mobility and that she'll start sleeping again soon :( Hope everyone else had a better night x

What a hideous night Nutella! No good saying hope you get a nap during the day either. Unless your boss is very understanding! George had a similar phase when he discovered how to pull himself up but it seems to have passed now, so there is hope!

We were up a few times too, but not on the same scale as you, and now I'm not feeding him in the night Oh gets up sometimes too which makes a difference. G was so upset at 5.30 I ended up calpolling him and feeding him to calm him so he slept til 8. And is now full of beans so either the calpol did the trick or he was fine really and just having me on...
