On the cold thing - a friend moved to the States a few years ago, and had a bloke out to do some work on the ranch she lives on (spends her day walking dogs and riding horses - nice if you can get it huh?)... he goes all complimentary on her "oooh that's a nice fragrance you're wearing - is it a British perfume?" To which she replies, "No, it's Vicks Vapour Rub."Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0

Look! This is my 1000th post! :jI wanted to use it for something clever and/or funny, but I don't feel particularly clever or funny today, so just sending all you lovely ladies a big dodgy hug to say thank you for all your support and advice! :grouphug:

Yay for 1000 posts Nutella! :T:T:T
Hope you get some work done - I've pretty much given up trying to work while he's awake, its pretty distracting having an entire set of stacking cups thrown at your ankles one by one...
Thanks for the cold advice, I'll stick with calpol for now, and possibly a hot shower later (its a hard life!). Although he seems better now - think I've been manipulated by a baby as I'd promised him one of the lentil cake things I made yesterday for his dinner but as he seemed under the weather I did him eggy bread instead as its his favourite. As soon as he had a bit in his fist he was like a new baby. Little swine played me!Newborn thread member

Nurofen is much better than calpol for everything I find especially teething. Snuffle babe is good for chest and feet. And a saline nose spray if blocked up xThe frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0

they can have nurofen and calpol.. if you alternate every 2-3 hours they are never without drugs.
Saline nose drops or spray is good for clearing stuffy noses, spray is possibly easier to administer.
or you could try and aspirator to suck the snot out .. vile but effective!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
I have always wondered about those aspirators, would they not just encourage the production of more snot?0

On the subject of ibuprofen (nurofen) I'm pretty sure babies have to be 3 months old before they can have it."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0

They do but the lady who asked said hers is 6 months I believe.
Aspirators just slurp out what is there they have no effect on whether more or less is produced. I think decongestants seem to stop it for a while and as soon as you stop usong them there is 10 times the quantity there was before.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

Yup they do. I don't think I gave any painkillers before 3m here anyway. We do favour Nurofen though, it just seems to do the job better, although have been known to double up with calpol. I think because it's an anti-inflammatory it seems to help ease the swelling of his wee gums with the teeth
Anyway Hello, been so busy and then so knackered with all the Birthday shenanigans. We had a lovely 2 days, but v busy. Went out for lunch yesterday and he was running around the restaurant like a good 'un. Boy is wild. I've finally caved in and going to buy a safety gate tomorrow as I cannot trust my OH to keep the bathroom door shut and now he's learned to lift the toilet seat up, I'm sick of things being thrown down the bog.
We got lots of lovely things for birthday, mountains of clothing, nothing to buy for the next year I don't think  and a few toys, we got him a lights and sounds whizz down mountain from ELC and a Fisher Price Little People Zoo Truck. Great Grandparents have ordered the Bounce and Spin Zebra so just waiting for it to arrive. He also got a lovely little mini armchair, it's so cuteI will find a few pics and upload them for you all xx
