I agree with fluff. Just because of her age and the fact she cannot pick him up, I would not accept. You need someone who can pick him up, run after him when the time comes, be reliable and follow your rules. I'm sure she's now smitten and would love to spend more time with him, but childcare is different, you need to be sure the people looking after him are fit, healthy and can keep up with his growing energy. He might start to crawl fast and disappear from sight really quickly. I don't know, it depends of how healthy, aware of surroundings and fit she is. But I would use that line that fluff has suggested and say you need to make a commitment with the nursery because of huge waiting lists or whatever. In fact, in my local nursery it's better to pay for the full week than three random days. If you don't need to make a decision now, you could do a sneaky trial and visit her and let her do everything for six hours, which is what she's offering to do. Then later on you say you spoke to the nursery and they don't let you do random days, if you still have concerns. If you were to have a childminder you would stay with her the whole first day to check how she does and how your baby does, I think you could do the same. It's not the same to look after a baby every other hour for a bit, or two hours, than six hours twice a day. I would need to be sure she can physically do it.

I had to Google ewan the sheep because I didn't know what you were talking about! I saw there are other similar toys with womb sounds to help your baby sleep. Is ewan the best? John Lewis has it at £27.

Ewan is amazing, I got him from boots during a baby event and it was 3for2 with other stuff. The baby events doing seem as good anymore. Definitely worth the cash :)

Sorry things aren't going great morocha, hopefully your milk comes in soon xx

Will come back later to update about A's birthday x

I'm with fluff and Marta turtle, definitely stick with the nursery/childcare. Your list of concerns are completely rational and at the end of the day its a question of your baby's safety, and if she's partially deaf, unsteady on her feet he's not going to be safe on his own with her for such a long day. What does your OH think, does he share your concerns?....oh. Just re read what you wrote about him. Just have to show him your list of concerns and hope he sees sense!

Night 3 of cc wasn't so great, hardly any crying though so not much to control lol but he woke up 5 times. Went straight back off each time but still knackering being up and down. Giving him the benefit of the doubt that he's a bit under the weather as he seems a bit sniffly today, and not that he just likes dragging me out of bed to find his dummy in the dark!

sunshine I'm just looking for a pram that is relatively lightweight, folds up well - umbrella fold I guess unless there's some fancy new way of folding a pram up so it doesn't take up the entire boot! And relatively cheap. Probably a maclaren stylee thing. Although the quinny zapp folds up tiny apparently, so something along those lines. Recommendations welcomed!

If you have then just say to the mw "I appreciate the nhs are pro bfing but this is my baby and I've made my decision so please don't bring it up again". Ha easy for me to say sat here safely hidden from any mean mws! Good luck though :o

Me again, I'll stop hogging the thread after this one, promise!

G appears to be coming down with his first cold - just woken up and is definitely not himself. Other than calpol does anyone have any medicinal (or otherwise) recommendations to minimise it? We don't have a 24hr supermarket round here so want to be prepared, he's not been poorly before really :(

Best thing I found for colds was just to bring them into the bathroom while you have a nice long steamy shower to unbung them up a bit (works better with babies that stay put where you put 'em though - or recruit daddy to sit on the floor and entertain baby). Erin shook hers off fairly quickly this week - I've had the damned thing for about a month now!

Colds - Karvol plug-in works here; I think it smells horrible, but it helps her breathe and hence sleep, so worth every penny :) You can also get them as drops that you put in a bowl of hot water - works out cheaper, but we didn't find it quite as effective. As it happens, my LO now has a cold too - the first of many nursery-related ones I suspect! She's a bit miserable today, so just as well I'm working from home and she's here with me. She's currently having a nap, so I really should get some work done rather than be on here!

...But not before I've said that I agree with Fluff, Katie and Marta - Turtle, you need to stick with the paid childcare and no, you're not being unreasonable. Having your MIL look after him will end in tears and strain your already strained relationship even further. I hope you manage to convince your OH though so that this doesn't affect your relationship too.

Oh, and Ewan is fab! :D Definitely helped her sleep. Sadly ours has now died, but he still enjoys a cuddle every now and then. I think ours came from Amazon.
