Aww dizzi, poor Erin - and poor you, I can't imagine going through those last few difficult weeks of pregnancy and having another one to look after! Remind me how long you've got left now? I never see the list now I'm not on the preggers thread! Oooh that reminds me, rups never turned up on this thread, I was sure we'd see her here! Or have I just missed her?

29 weeks as of next Wednesday... Erin came at 33+6 (started getting pains at 33+5 on Easter Sunday) so getting nearer than I'd like from the point where things went pear shaped last time!

I still can't face Green and Black's chocolate btw since I was eating my Easter Egg by 'em when it all kicked off!

I've never done CC as such - I've done ignoring of mild grumbles where it's obviously been nowt more than "oi, I'm sort of awake.... service please!" But she's always been very good at self-settling - I got lucky in that regard in that she's always needed to go to sleep where she was going to be sleeping and not coped well with being moved - so not a child you needed to rock, pat, shush and cuddle to sleep - more like me in a "oh god you're irritating me - get out of my face so I can zzzz" type of person.

Ladies something disastrous has happened....my dishwasher has broken *sob*
  • What age is considered old enough to start cc? The girls are really bad at self-soothing, getting themselves to sleep and staying asleep for more than 10 mins unless they are sleeping on me. I cant believe they don't sleep in a cot, Im really disappointed with myself about that. Its going to be so hard to sort that.

Im sure they are going through a growth spurt. I've not been able to fill them today. They've never eaten so much. And as soon as they've finished they are sucking frantically on their hands

    good luck katiechoc

I made a trial of it this week, but with frosting rather than icing and after 600g of icing sugar  I still didn't have enough so just doing regal icing for the real deal. This is the trial and the frosting is a bit poop :o

This has just reminded me that I made traffic light jelly for my now DH when I was at uni. Took ages for each of the layers to set, but it looked really good. :D

Gilly we really like the Aldi sensitive wipes - they are 79p for 80 and they've won awards from parenting magazines. I've just made a special trip (we don't have one very close) and stocked up for me and for my friend as the nappies are great too and she needed some more (we're still using up the pampers actifit that my Dad bought us). They also have the clip-down lid and have camomile and aloe vera in them.

Cake... my boy is like that during the day. Luckily he sleeps at night.

One thing I've learnt (after a bad night last night) is that if I can manage to wind him fully, he will sleep in the day. At least that's what I'm putting the 2 hour nap down to.

Cake I don't know if there is an "official" age to start cc, I know gilly did it at around 16 weeks I think (sorry if I've got that wrong! Will edit later if I have!), some people like to wait until around the 6 month mark for any kind of sleep training. It's up to you really, whatever feels right for your family. I have used something called the "gentle sleep solution" at 6.75 months, and then CC'ing for naps at 7.5 months, but to be fair it only took one nap and 24 mins of CC'ing as he was already sleeping well at night, self settling etc...so i suppose I'm not really in a position to advise!

Sunshine wahey for being home, is the infection gone now? Does this mean his cough has finally gone too? So glad to hear he is ok!!!!

Hi, yes I done it around 16/17 weeks. We were co-sleeping but it had got to the point where he wouldn't nap if I wasn't there, I had to be in the bed, next to him, and my back was starting to ache holding him all night.

I done the 2-5-10-15 minute intervals. Going back into reassure, tuck him back in etc. I started on first Nap of the day on the Sunday, and by the Monday night he was self settling. He didn't sleep through until 6.5 months, he would still wake for his feeds but he'd go straight back down.

It's not for the faint hearted and I maybe did start a bit young, but for my own sanity I had to do it, we had a rocky start with A, and we were running on fumes, my OH had a dissertation to get in, and a final semester at uni to complete, he was also working 30 hours a week to keep a roof over our heads, so we had to do something :o

On another note, this time last year I was in labour :j

Oh, turtle, poor you! My dishwasher broke when I was pregnant and I had to get one asap!!! I bought mine from homebase with a code for a 19% off, free delivery weekend and through Boots Treat Street with a triple points week! Every time I'm buying anything online, I check at Boots just in case they have the shop in the treat street, it's great! Even for things like HMV, I could get points for my HMV card plus points for the Boots one. I needed my dishwasher to be integrated, but they were a few good ones for around £150 back then. I really like the timer though, I have economy 7 and I put both the dishwasher and the washing machine at night. I can live without a dishwasher but I would be grumbling and complaining when washing up.

Great news sunshine!! Was it because of any bug, or random infection because of the current cold?

I had loads to comment, but I'm afraid I've forgotten most of it!

Moneypenny, I think savage was using the medela calma bottles for combination breastfeeding, maybe she can let you know if they work well. As I said, they are designed for that and not for formula feeding, as the baby needs to work the milk out, so they don't get lazy with the breast afterwards. There must be some video online aswell.

My parents leave in a few hours.First day was horrible, they did not allow her to sleep by overstimulating her, staring at her within inches of her face and talking constantly to her. Result was screaming from late five to.almost one, with some ten minutes naps because of exhaustion. The whole night was also hard, as she kept waking up and having difficulty getting a deep sleep. I told them off, and the following days she managed to sleep after every feed for a few hours resulting in a happy sleepy smiling baby. Awesome. We went out for a meal twice and she slept in the carrier the whole time. She didn't like the pram though, she cried there but would settle and fall sleep in the carrier. Thanks god I didn't spend silly money in my travel system (got it from the Boots display at £60!), otherwise I'd be pretty upset she doesn't like it! Maybe when I remove the car seat and she can use just the pram she might prefer it.

    Off to sleep. Night night.
