Dawww! My baby sleep suckles too. Very cute.
So me and Oscar had a nightmare night, he's only five weeks old and he's alresdy teething so I have one very grumpy and dribbly baby on my hands. I'm using sugar free Dentinox on his gums which seems to help for about twenty minutes but then he starts grizzling again. Oscar the grouch indeed!
Snow is really coming down here and I'm out of milk so no cuppa for me this morning. :-( I was meant to be going shopping with my sister today but I can't see that happening. I might pop to her house later and beg a cuppa off my mum.Have I helped? Feel free to click the 'Thanks' button. I like to feel useful (and smug).0 -
Mozzy, yay for walking - well done Charlie! :T0

Fluff, that's so cute! And rest assured there was no explosion
It's not the cutest but it's the shortest and smallest file I could find. I had to email from my phone to my PC and so didn't want to send an enormous file. I've got so much video of him doing it - I should do a montage and stick it on youtube"Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
Odd enough, this one has slept very well between 10pm and 7pm, and by very well.I mean she's woken three times to feed at 12, 4 and 6, then back to sleep. This has happened the last two days, but then from 7am she's just awake, would want a feed every 90 minutes, would hardly sleep unless she's on me and I don't move, would cry often, etc.
After our "is she having colic? Is she having reflux? Why does it seem painful to eat and/or trump?", we are not the wiser after going to the GP. He said if she had reflux, she'd be throwing up often. And if she had colic, she'd be impossible to settle. She's still on infacol, I stopped the gripe water because she puts shockedface, she almost seems to choke and holds her breath for endless seconds. I find it too scary, so I pass. She was having Gaviscon for the last two days, which might reduce the crying during feeds, but I think she was having more bowel ache, as she would not go to sleep after a feed, her dirty nappies were much thicker (pate style, like a thick paste) and I thought she was having pains trying to poo/trump. She also would wake up screaming before trumping or throwing up. So I stopped. The HV was here today and recommended colief. I asked for the comfort milk instead and she said we can try both, one after the other. I think I could try first the comfort milk, then colief if it does not work, but she seemed keen on doing it the opposite way, because she sad I would know straight away if colief has any effect. Anyone has tried any?
I also use a dummy, both mw and HV recommended it to me. She only has it whilst waiting for the feed to get ready and when she's screaming full volume because of tiredness, and in those cases she would spit it out when she's calmed a bit. I'm not keen on toddlers having one all time or being dependent of them, but I think it's ok at this age. Idk why there's so much aversion to dummies for newborns, now they do them with dentists and orthodontists to ensure they don't mess up the roof of the mouth. The mw told us that better the dummy than the hand, because you can slowly take it away, whilst with the hand is more difficult.Quit smoking *1st January 2010*

I hope that means he's a happier boy today - how was your night?
Oh he was fine, our buildings fire alarm however was not. 7 times it went off between 3.52 and 5am!!! What a blooming' nightmare. My OH seemed to be the only one who was going down to deal with it too and he had work at 6am poor man.Odd enough, this one has slept very well between 10pm and 7pm, and by very well.I mean she's woken three times to feed at 12, 4 and 6, then back to sleep. Marta I'm not gonna sit here and say your doctor is wrong, but my little one had reflux, and he was never sick, there is such a thing as silent refux. IMO a lot of doctors are of the opinion that if there is no sick there is no reflux which is utter nonsense. I'd be inclined to print out some pages on silent reflux, and take them back with you. They cannot keep palming you off. Eventually if it isn't addressed the baby can become fearful of feeding because everytime they do it's painful.
Coilef is good for wind, but it is a faff to prepare. Colief breaks down the lactose enzymes in milk, comfort milk already has the lactose broken down so they are much of a muchness tbh. If it reflux your little one has you'd be much better off with a feed thickener which you can get on prescription or a stay down formula (SMA stay down, Cow and gate anti reflux or Aptamil anti reflux)
For me to get a proper diagnosis I had to hound the surgery infact I was there daily for a few weeks, it came to me breaking down and saying I wasn't leaving until I got a referral to the peadatrician. As it turns out our wee one has an intolerance to milk proteins and that was what was causing the reflux and the horrible wind/poops. When we got onto the correct milk he was a different boy.The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -
