Lol, 3 months fair enough, but when mine was less than a month old all I was thinking of was sleep
Bamama, you've got a baby that sleeps though haven't you?
I had to have the morning after pill when little lady was 3 weeks old - the lady pharmacist was most amused when I asked for it as I had bubs with me, her parting comment was 'i didn't let my husband near me for months!'0 -
Do you think not feeding at night could affect my supply?
Yes, but it's supply and demand. If you're truly being led by your baby, and your baby simply doesn't want to feed at night, then you're still giving your baby the feeds he wants. I can't see how you can do anything else. But, if you're worried try to talk to a lactation expert. You don't want to find you're losing supply if a quick pump in the night is all that's needed to keep things topped up.
Dewi was born Christmas day wasn't he? So he'd be just over three weeks now. Has he always slept through? Is he still on his medication?"Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
Or am I just stressing/not eating enough?0

He would have slept in the hospital if they'd let him. he doesn't sleep through every night. Has woken for one feed most nights. yes hes still on meds. they deffo aren't making him drowsy in the day. he won't go down.
starting to stress out0 -
A part of me is jealous of that sleep!! Little fussy kitten woke up at 8:30 and until 5:30 she's been feeding, crying, complaining and trying to sleep, but I'm not sure what's going on, she would wake up after 10 minutes screaming. At the moment she's fallen asleep again, but it's been only 15minutes and I guess she's exhausted. I gave her gripe water before and she threw up the last feed.
why don't they learn how to speak whilst in the womb?! It would be much easier if they could tell what's wrong!!!

OK lovey, having a baby is stressful, even the easy ones, so try to realise that you're just doing what every new mother does - worrying about your baby!
When you were discharged were you given any advice on feeding? You say they didn't let him sleep in the hospital so presumably this was because they felt that feeding was more important than sleeping. Is he putting weight on OK?
There's a huge variation in what's 'normal' for babies, and yours just might be a babe who gets into a good night sleeping routine very quickly (apparently I did too and my mum gave up waking me for one of my two night feeds after about two weeks). However, Dewi is on meds and it's difficult to know whether these are interfering with whatever he'd do naturally. Do you have someone who you can talk to, a consultant paediatrician or similar? Or a lactation consultant who knows a little about babies who need to be on various medication? I'd seek a little advice if I were you.
The important thing is not to worry - provided he's putting on weight you have no need for concern. But, put simply, it would be nice to know the answer to a simple question - do I wake him for night feeds or leave him to sleep? That's all you need to know really.
As an aside, Freddie never really napped in the day (although I'm trying to introduce a routine now). After the first few weeks, he'd be really wakeful all day unless we were travelling in the car. Do you do anything to encourage Dewi's naps? Quite honestly, some babies are rubbish at going down for naps and need rocking, jigging, or being pushed in a pram/driven in a car before they'll go off. Freddie's like this and I've just accepted that I need to take him out three times a day to get him to nap! They didn't give me any advice as they were happy with how he was feeding.
He was birth weight leaving hospital (he did his loss and regain there). Put on 11oz in 3 days. Then put on 8oz in a week. Which I know is good.
It's gonna sound daft but he seems to be getting angry at my boobs. They don't seem to be getting very full either. Ano they aren't meant to be firm but... I dunno. just doesn't seem right.0 -

Doh! *fluffnutter hits head in sudden dawning* He's having his first growth spurt! Happens at three weeks. Baby's getting angry at the boob because the milk's not coming fast enough for his greedy little needs. Your boobs won't feel firm because they're not getting the chance to get engorged because he's feeding so often. As an aside, once you've sorted out supply and demand your boobs tend to be soft most of the time - it's only if your baby is overdue a feed by a couple of hours that your boobies start feeling like rocks. Nowt to worry about with soft boobs.
It's all entirely normal and should settle down in a day or so."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
Bamama, try not to stress I know easier said then done but Dewi is putting weight on well and is happy in himself. Babies don't read the books and know how they're meant to act its only us that get caught up with what's normal and what's not. My little lady this last week hasn't slept during the day at all, yesterday she was awake from 7am - 10pm but was happy in herself all day and slept through till 8:27 this morning. She feeds throughout the day as and when she wants and is satisfied as if she was hungry then she'd soon let me know and Dewi would be the same I'd imagine. We're up to 9lb 9.5oz at 6 weeks 5 days which is less then most of my friends little ones but she's growing at her own rate and I've been lucky having hv's who look at her as a whole rather then solely on the weight graphs and think we're doing great.
You're doing fantastically hun x0
