Lol fluff! You sound like my OH. I've had loads of eye contact. Obviously not much else, as you say... they are kind of boring.

I'm also always on my phone but will put the pc and do my thanking :)

For all the BF mummies, did you ever go through a phase of a sore nipple on one side? One of mine is really sore, I kind of dread feeding from it but keep going through the pain so I don't muck up my supply. I'm religious with the Lansinoh, they don't seem cracked or sore or red or anything, just sore when little miss is sucking. I have noticed though I can't get her to open her mouth to that big yawn before she latches on - is this a lazy latch? Even if she cries and I try to get it in quickly while her mouth is open she seems to sense it is coming and closes her mouth to a normal openess and is so impatient to feed she just takes what she can - it always looks like she has got the position right but the one side is so sore I can't think what else it might be.

Hope everyone has a nice day!

Yeah, definitely. I was so sore on the right that I had to express and bottle-feed from that side on and off for a couple of weeks. The left wasn't too bad, although I did have soreness of both sides in the early weeks. You probably do have a slightly less effective latch on one side, that's just because we're not symmetrical. Your nipples will be slightly different shapes, the number of milk ducts will differ so feeding might be more effective on one side than the other, the way you hold and position your baby will differ a little. It's inevitable that you might feel more problems on one side than the other.

Keep on with the lansinoh - IME, your baby's latch will keep on improving over time, your nipples will get more used to breastfeeding and the pain will reduce. Try not to avoid feeding on that side, but perhaps experiment with different holds as it can often help if the baby's mouth comes at your nipple from a different angle. I tried the rugby ball hold for a few feeds which wasn't too painful but was a bit tricky to master. In the end I found the reverse cradle most useful and I still use it to this day on the right (preferring the normal cradle on the left). I found that I was more able to support my breast and nipple better with the reverse hold.

If it gets really painful, try nipple shields (didn't work for me but others have had good results) or expressing for a while. Good luck.

Link below to some holds you could try. I think it's American though. They call reverse-cradle cross-cradle and rugby ball hold the football hold.

Another thing the midwives told me was a no-no: don't put up with a bad latch. If she's not on properly, then release her mouth and reposition her. It's frustrating but it's better to spend five or even ten minutes getting your baby to latch on properly than letting them hang on the end of your nipple. Your nipples will get very sore if the latch is always poor.

Other than the first clamp-down, a good latch shouldn't hurt (unless you've already got some nipple soreness).

Did you use your Merino sleeping bag from birth?
Underneath, would your baby wear a vest/bodysuit and a sleepsuit or just a sleepsuit?

Many thanks for your time replying ... I am so excited as I've just been given a Merino newborn-3 months sleep bag. The one you mentioned last week.

    Thank-you!

Yes from birth. We only have either a long sleeved vest or a sleepsuit underneath but he normally only wears a sleepsuit with no vest anyway. Happy sleeping :)

Moneypenny - I use shields, medela set of two in boots for £8. They are super soft and flexible. The latch is different though... Dewi shuffles his way down (midwives were happy with it as his latch was right when he made it to the bottom).

Ok, who broke my baby? Up FOUR times last night, screaming, only boob would do. Exhausted. Now wont nap today. Argh!

bamama fluff is right, sounds like a growth spurt. Oh the joys! Hopefully should only last a few days.

nutella thanks for mentioning the boots sale, I've never looked at their clothes before but they are lovely quality. Got 5 short sleeve vests, 3 long sleeve vests, 3 sleepsuits and a dressing gown for £17 (should have been £40!). I couldnt afford to shop in the ordinarily but i will defo go there again for sale bargains.

I have been feeling really crap lately, not just tired but exhausted, even though (except last night) I've actually been sleeping pretty well. When I wake up in the morning ,I feel like there is a heavy weight on me - it is a physical exertion to force myself to get up. Once I'm up im usually ok, but I keep having this odd 'spells' where my head goes really fuzzy, my vision blurs, I feel really sick, I get really hot, and I feel like all the energy has been sapped from me in an instant. They are strong enough to stop me in my tracks, and I have stumbled a few times. It takes around 20 minutes to gradually feel back to normal after one of those - they are happening at least once a day and sometimes up to 3 or 4. AT the same time, ive had a headache constantly for the same time I've exprience the above. Sometimes the headache intensifies, sometimes it is less, but it is always there. I'm frightened I might drop reuben if one happens when im holding him, especially on the stairs - have got doctors tomorrow but wondered if anyone had experienced similar, is this anaemia? I lost a lot of blood during birth and my iron went down to 7.2, i was supposed to have a blood transfusion but the hosptal forgot. I was on iron for a while but they ran out and I felt better so didn't get any more.

Four times, huh? An easy night! I long for the days when Freddie only woke four times :D

I have had similar, turtle, although perhaps not as intense. I get these sudden dizzy spells and I feel like I've 'lurched' IYSWIM but without actually moving. It takes five or 10 minutes to come round and in that time I feel shaky and sweaty. I put it down to not eating enough, especially as F sucks the life out of my boobs so much. I've lost a lot of weight and I don't think I'm eating enough calories to support both him and me, TBH. I was also anaemic after having Freddie but didn't need to take tablets. My levels are OK now apparently.

Incidentally, but not related to pregnancy or being a new mum, I have experienced precisely the same episodes as you describe. This was when I was exhausted with work and in the end had to take a week off. The episodes lasted about six weeks and the debilitation was enormous. Are you very tired? Stressed? Anxious?

The quack will see you right, lovey. Some blood tests I expect. You'll be fine.

Boots clothes are lovely - I often use my advantage points for a quick retail therapy fix in there - bought some romper suits last summer and they've washed really really well, kept their bright colours and haven't gone grey or bobbly at all.

Oh I have a wonderfully ominous feeling our hot water's on the blink again - it's done this before! Taking ages to run through warm, gradually it'll do hot then cold and you won't get things like a full baby bath ran before it conks altogether. Trouble is we need it to conk before we can call central heating care people out!
