So far the midwife has visited at day 3, 5 and 9. She has now discharged us to the HV, who came to see us today (day 10), and will be back again in a week. HV seems very nice, spent some time saying that we shouldn't worry if Elliot weighs a little less than he did yesterday, and then looked very surprised to see he's put on another 2oz! Can't say I'm that shocked given how much he's been eating...

Thanks for advice re the dry skin x

Re midwife- we had a visit day after leaving hospital then went to local hospital day 5,6,8,10 and 14 these appts were for bf support in the main as well as standard mw stuff.
We have been discharged to hv today as almost back to birth weight yay!! Hv will come next tues.

Have had a day of ups and downs. Being discharged was fab.
But Dylan the pup did a Houdini and escaped from the garden into the big nasty dogs garden  luckily Dylan survives another day as nasty dog was out.
I have nearly sliced my finger off chopping onions note to self remove all sharp knives.... Just typical as will find it difficult to do stiff now as it blinking hurts !
We bought a second hand sofa which has reclining ends, was so pleased with it until hubby sat in it with LO in arms. I pressed button and hubby ended up stranded flat with legs in the air and LO in arms. He was not impressed, chaps cam back and tried to fix it and have been given run around that they will get electrician out blah blah  tbh it's a bargain even if recliners don't work as its Italian leather. Anyway if anyone knows if I can get the recliner to collapse at least without motor working let me know as hubby going to investigate tomorrow as cannot be bothered to phone them again (sigh)..,

Crabapple hope you have a better night.

Rose is asleep atm. She rarely curls up now, just sprawls out.... She looks so serious!

We've had a gurgly laugh or two, very sweet to hear.

Other than that, it's amazing how long it takes to do anything now- car key hunt, mobile hunt, making a bottle up, discovering I have no nappies, and Rose deciding she needs fed every time I open the door.... :) I've never owned a handbag or purse, Rose has an entourage everywhere she goes! Takes a bit of getting used to- I ran out to Asda the other day and left her with DH, was walking around before I realised I had her bottle in my hand....

Ive had such a bad day today :( Aaron has been windy from 10am. Midwife recommended infacol but because he's so worked up and screaming blue murder he will not latch on at all. Had to give him formula tonight because he'd been so long between feeds :( i feel horrible and hate myself so much for it. He went straight to sleep after and looks so content now. I'm hoping my milk will come in in the next few days so I can start expressing ASAP.

Hugs Gilly, I found the first few days really tough too. It doesn't help that your hormones are all over the place. Don't feel bad about giving Aaron formula, there's nothing wrong with that. It was what you had to do so you really shouldn't feel bad. Please don't beat yourself up about it. My milk came in on the Tuesday following giving birth, so day five. I hope it's not long for you. Be prepared to feel very emotional and weepy for a day or so when it does come in, again that's just hormones and is normal!

Thanks annabella. Iv cried constantly all day today, as has he so its been difficult. He was so mucusy after birth too so wouldnt feed at all because his stomach was full so the hospital want me to feed him every 2 hours but he wont wake up so often, can take 20 minutes to rouse him and then he's hysterical because he's been woken.

The wind is ridiculous though, he very seldom burps but he trumps constantly. Example, earlier on we winded for 1 and a half hours and he trumped constantly for that time!

Amelia was really mucusy too, at one point she brought up a load of really bloody mucus, I nearly panicked! Plus she slept for the first 24 hrs solid, even the midwife couldn't wake her to feed. Oh and even now she trumps a lot more than burps. I really hope things improve for you soon, being a mum is the most difficult thing I've ever done in my life but I do feel that it's got easier over the last few days...

(( biggest hugs)) for you Gilly try not to get upset what you are experiencing happens to lots if mums. The important thing is that you feed him and it does not matter what you give him. I had to give Scott some formula 1st night as he would not settle and as you know it was only day 5 when his weigh in showed I had been starving him by him not getting enough from breast milk as it was in late etc
Going to cont post in a sec as Scott grumpy xx

Scott was very windy up until we got feeding sorted after day 5 but maybe that was him being a bit older that helped that calm down!
On day 5 we were given 24 hrs to feed him up otherwise back to hosp it was so stressful and felt terrible. We had to feed every 3 hrs breast bottle then express and if course Scott wanted to sleep so felt terrible waking him up but it had to be done it was for his own good.

We pretended to change his nappy
