Had the worst night so far with baby. She slept a little early on and I had been for a nap when DH got back from work so I was fine with that. She then got grouchy by 12.30, DH headed off to sofa, and I spent the next 6 hours dealing with her on a feeding frenzy and only getting a quick doze in before she woke complaining again.
About 6.30 she started crying again and I was a wreck. DH woke up for that one and came upstairs to find me holding and rocking her while in floods of tears. Must have looked a right state but he took her away until he had to go to work and I got to recover for a little while. As soon as she has fed and settled this morning (and there is no way she can't as she had next to no sleep either) we are back off to bed.
Reading back it is most definitely too early for me to consider having another one, even before last night. And I'd be 37 for number 2 even if I got pregnant right now (no chance of that due to lack of sleep, DH living on the sofa, and stitches!).:heartpuls Daughter born January 2012 :heartpuls Son born February 2014 :heartpuls

4nnabella - our hv recommended strongly to NOT use sudocrem as it stops the Nappies absorbing properly which makes the rash worse. Try getting some bepanthen instead. Its what we had already and it clears up Cjs redness really quickly practically by when the nappy is next changed!
Ps. Cj is official now! Took her to be registered yesterday.

Morning all!!
I can't believe Timmy is 8 days old already, it's whizzed by. We took him to be registered yesterday, so now he's an official little person :T.
He's still doing really well at feeding, i'm formula feeding, and he's eating every 2 hours on the dot. You really could set your clock by him! The only time he makes a sound is if he's hungry or getting his nappy changed, and even then it's the most adorable sound ever.
Quick question - how many visits from the midwife has everybody had? We've had 2 so far, and since then they've just rang me every other day to ask if everything is ok, and said they'll be back on day 10 which is Thurs. For some reason I thought they came out more often, especially as we had an unexpected home birth. I don't mind the lack of visits, it means we can go out and about during the day without waiting for them to come, but was just curious how much everybody else saw theirs.
Hope everybody is having a fab day,0 -
They came to us on our first day home, we went to them on day 5 and day 10, then we were discharged. No phone calls in between, we even had to chase them up for our 5 day appointment time. I think it depends whether there are any issues?0

Crabapple, i've had a few days like that! Yesterday from 10am he slept maybe an hour and a half in 12 hours, and I fed most of the rest of the time. I just keep telling myself it won't last forever.
We registered baby when he was 6 days old, we had to get all the paperwork and running round done before the other half went home. I'm glad we did, as ever since he went back to work we've been stuck in a coldy/growth spurt feeding frenzy, and it's hard to find time to go to the shops, let alone get to places on time0 -
Similar to Aimless here, they came to us first day at home and day 5, we went to them yesterday (day 11). We would have been discharged if it wasn't for the sore skin, but I'm sure it's going to have cleared up within the next day or two so hopefully we'll be discharged after our next appointment on Monday.
Thanks Kira, but it's not nappy rash. She's got red sore skin at the very top of her legs, more than likely caused by the fact that she still lies with her knees bunched up to her elbows and doesn't stretch her legs out very often yet. So the sudocrem is just going in the crease at the top of her legs. The midwife told us we may have to try different creams, like bepanthen or metanium, if sudocrem doesn't work but it looks like it is working...:j Debt Free 27.07.2011!! :j0 -
Sammy_girl - at least end of the year isnt too long. Don't think men get as broody as us! We were originally going to start trying end of the year too but we are getting married next year and i don't want to be pregnant so going to wait till after. Would love another one though!
Crabapple -sorry to hear you had an awful night , hope this one is better!
Midwife came to us on day 5 and 6 as i wasn't out of hospital till day 4 then we had to go to a clinic at day 10.I know in other areas they get seen more often.
We are good here, Poppy has had a sniffle since Thurs but seems ok apart from a bit off her food.0 -
The M/W came out the day after we got back from hospital, and again on day 5, and we had a final appointment at the m/w clinic at a local hospital on day 15, and we are now discharged. Had no other contact with them via phone or in person.
The HV came out to see us on day 13, and we are to go back to HV clinic in 2 weeks for a final weigh in, and they said thats us done with formal appointments.
Had the hearing test at a local clinic as well on day 14, all clear, so no need to return for any more hearing tests. I think the only thing now is waiting to see if we hear anything from the Guthrie test- but its a no news is good news scenario round here.Married 13/03/10 #1 DD born 13/01/12!!

I think I'm recovering now - thanks for the support, it does help to know I am not the only one suffering, and I'm also hoping tonight will be better! Going to try and get a nap this afternoon but just realised I hadn't sorted birthday cards for DH (for tomorrow) so been online to order two that will hopefully arrive in the post so he can have them when he gets home for lunch. Quite enjoyed ordering a 'daddy' card from the baby!!
We had the midwives in the day we got home, the next day which was day 3, then days 5 (for the heel bloods) and 10. 3 and 10 were weigh ins. Got discharged day 10 then saw HV day 12 and had hearing test yesterday which would be 16. I think that's all we have home visits for as everything is going well, we just go to the HV clinic going forward unless any problems come up.
I got married in May when I was about 8 weeks preg - only me and DH knew, but it did cause a last minute issue with the dress as my boobs had grown and it was quite tight fitting in the bodice anyway. Can laugh about it now but it was rather stressful at the time:rotfl::heartpuls Daughter born January 2012 :heartpuls Son born February 2014 :heartpuls
