Excellent, I love baby events. I never buy anything when they are on, just raid them when they are finished and are reducing all the special stuff they got in and didn't sell.
Just befoe I had reu, asda had a baby event and reduced the 6 pack boxes of the johnsons wipes (pink pack) to just £3! At 50p a pack, even asda smart price aren't that cheap! Reuben is 7 months old now and I to, have 4x 6 pack boxes left

Yep, the sleeping bag works great. We have two that I've used so far, one specifically aimed at newborn - 3 months (Merino - http://www.merinokids.co.uk/shop/swaddling/Natural+Cocooi+Newborn+Sleep+Bag.html - expensive but resale value good too!) which is great, it's soft and I like merino fabric myself as it regulates temperature well; and a thicker all-cotton one which was I think saying 0-6months which works well too. I don't think it's so much of a weight limit on them as to whether they could get the thing over their head if they fell down inside it somehow but given the arm/head holes on these I don't see that happening.moneypenny21 wrote: »Thanks savage so your little one goes in the sleeping bag ok at that weight ( guessing a similar weight to little miss) ? I think co sleeping would be great but I'm too nervous to try at the moment.!
We're trying to bite them here too but it's not easy - I've also tried filing them but it's still hard to do as he does have sharp little nails but I can't seem to get a good grip on them to bite or angle on them to file! Plus he doesn't really like his nails being bitten so have to do when he's mostly asleep.moneypenny21 wrote: »MArta - nails we bite as per instructions from the midwife, it's not easy but easier after a bath. I rhought this was a mad suggestion but it works so dont blame you if u thibk we are nuts!
missbunbury - good to hear you're getting some more advice and have been in touch with LLL - let us know what they say about the letdown? Why do they think you have a forceful letdown based on the possibly poor weight gain (or am I confusing different issues?). I am curious as feeds here seem to be much shorter lately and I think my letdown might be "forceful" too. No other signs of problems though like green nappies etc and he's put on weight (4 weeks tomorrow and he's now 5.1kgs).
candlewax - the cooled boiled water malarkey is only for eyes, any old water will do for nether regions, and as we don't have gummy eyes I've been a bad mummy and only done the cooled boiled water thing about twice. For nether regions, I am using re-usable wipes (Cheeky wipes) - basically little towels that you put in water with a few drops of essential oil. If you want to use 'normal' wipes here the midwives seem to be OK with it - general advice is that's OK so long as you know baby might react to wipes - personally I avoid chemicals so far as possible in cosmetics myself so do the same for baby.0 -
Evening all, hope everyone is ok.
Quick question for those who express regularly - due to various reasons I'm currently having to express rather than BF my 4 week old. I have a medela swing which is great, but, do I haven to sterilse after every express, even if it's just an hour? I'm desperate to keep my quantity up so I can put LO back on the boob ASAP.
Might seem very straightforward just don't want to have to do expres, wash, sterilise cycle 8 times a day if not necessary
Thanks in advance

Hi sunshine
Not sure if she is on the Facebook group? I'm not on Facebook so don't know.
I'm watching 16 kids and counting on channel 4+1, I think I would go insane with that many!

Is your LO healthy? To be honest, I'm not going to bother with the whole sterilising thing in great detail - I think the manual said that rinsing, then washing in hot soapy water, then rinsing in hot water was OK (which I thought was a bit odd). The bottles and anywhere where the milk lives for a while must be sterile, but from the way the pump works I can't see that milk could get in too many nooks and crannies. I've only expressed twice so far, to be fair, but am going to be doing it more regularly soon and I think my routine will be to rinse the funnel thingy, the plastic thing it goes into, and the valve/membrane in hot water immediately after use, and wash them in more 'detail' a bit less frequently, and only sterilise the bottles (I have bought glass ones) & teats by boiling them after each use. Of course you may want to be more cautious than that, in which case it might make sense to get some of the microwave quick sterilise bag thingies that Medela do, or if you have an electric or microwave steriliser use that? The manual did say that one of the bits wouldn't work in the quick sterlise bags though (although I'm still not quite seeing why you need to sterilise the tube if no milk got in it)Quick question for those who express regularly - due to various reasons I'm currently having to express rather than BF my 4 week old. I expressed exclusively and sterilised between 8-10 times a day
including twice in the middle of the night. I had an electric steriliser and used to just bung them in and keep them there until I was ready to express again, and repeat. x The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -
Jonno why not go old fashioned with Milton? (or supermarket own brand equivalent). I just had a tub on the go, chucked the parts in its after rinsing - it only takes half an hour in Milton to be sterile. Just shake it off and away you go. Change the Milton every 24hrs.
