Thanks for the tips, we will be trying everything!!!
Bamama,, that's great! My LO did that during BF, mw told me she was.trying to stimulate the nipple when doing that, she kind of moved the head back with the mouth open, then move the head quickly side to side whilst.doing a happy noise. Is that the one?
LO finally went to sleep at 1pm, from 9am!Quit smoking *1st January 2010*

Twigpig our routine is a bit like this with timings slightly altered some days.
8.30-9 Awake
9.30/10 - porridge/ 2 weetabix
11 - fruit/biscuit and water/juice
12/12.30 - lunch, usually scrambled eggs/omelette/French toast. Then a pudding either fruit/fruit pot.
2.30 - 8oz milk
4/5 - dinner, usually stew/casserole/curry/pasta etc and a pudding fruit or a fruit pot.
7 - 8oz milk
7.15 - Bed,
Some nights maybe 3 nights a week, I'll offer some supper around 6pm which will be porridge or weetabix. I don't really know measurements though. I think what you're giving looks sufficient tbh.The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -

Thanks gilly - think that looks about the same, although my LO still has 3 milk feeds throughout the day (the night one being a 4th!). I think he'll be getting water tonight if he wakes up in the night. It's supposed to be hubby's nightshift if he gets up, but I might do it instead. Can't exactly change the routine and expect hubby to deal with the fall out  :rotfl:TTC #3..........0 -
I'd say if he is waking it could be more comfort than hunger, so giving more food of an evening, may not solve the problem anyway. So I think you're doing the right thing with the water
rather than stressing about more food. It's so hard to know if you're doing the "right" thing. I'm always worrying if he's eating enough or too much, if he's sleeping too much

Sounds like it Marta
he's doing my head in a bit this afternoon. I'm perfectly calm and happy to deal with his every whim but... he's falling sleep and pulling off like he's finished but he's wanting more within 10min >< most of the feeds are only a few minutes themselves... if I put him down he'll wake!

Hi ladies, mind if I join you? Long time lurker of this and the pregnancy thread - was going to join after the 20 week scan, but got put off with a spate of things going wrong for some of the regulars on there at the time, and I didn't want to temp fate, lol. My little lady is 3 weeks old today - born at home via a planned homebirth with no pain relief (eek!) 37+5 weeks, 8lbs 4oz. I have two other DC's from a previous relationship, DS1 is 14 and DS2 is a month shy of 12, so in many ways it seems like I'm starting all over again, and this is DP's first (and only!) child. Already gained much useful information from you all - thanks Miss Keith for the tip on winding, it really works! We are struggling with this issue like so many others, I am breastfeeding properly for the first time, LO has a shallow latch and takes in lots of air. We've been checked for TT by 3 different people, but they all say she's fine, but I'm still not convinced as all the signs are there, including my very sore nipples still! I am hoping to go to the local childrens centre on Thurs to the breastfeeding support group, as I'm feeling a bit like I've just been left to get on with it by the NHS. Congrats to all the new mummies, and hello to everyone else

Hi Aventurine. Is there any way of you being seen by a lactation consultant? From what I hear midwives/doctors etc are really quite bad at spotting a tongue or lip tie. As you are breastfeeding, if there is one, they should snip it for you
Welcome anyway, stick around xxThe frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -
Hi Gilly, and thanks for the welcome
Not sure how I would go about getting seen by a lactation consultant. Is this something you would pay privately for? Would be worth every penny as I really want to make breastfeeding a success this time round.

Well baby clinic today was utter chaos central - about an hour and a half to be weighed! They're delaying her developmental check to nearer the year mark though which I feel happier with as I think she'll be more on an equal footing with her full-term peers by then. Nowt wrong with her eyesight though - baby over the other side of the room was getting fed out of the same make bottles we use - and she LUNGED for it - if she could have teleported she would have done... it was hilarious to watch her eyes absolutely fix on it!
As for food routines - ours at 9 months is:
4am - impromptu singing concert to Bunny (and mum and dad through the baby monitor) before farting loudly, rolling over and going back to sleep (she gets this from daddy DEFINITELY)
6.30am - awake, bottle 7oz - normally she feeds herself this one on our bed while I get dressed (which comes in handy!)
Nap at some point - or we stay in bed together while she beats me over the head with Bunny until going back to sleep for a bit
10am - breakfast - usually a baby weetabix or a fruit pot (either Cow and Gate or Organix whichever is on special) with water
Noon-ish - Lunch - either half a stage 2 jar, or a yoghurt pot size portion of something out of the freezer (today it was Salmon, Carrot and Tomato - my battle to make fish nice and appease the in-laws continues - today I actually won and she wolfed the lot!) and a yoghurt with water
Nap
2/3ish - 7oz bottle of milk
5/5.30ish - Tea - other half of stage 2 jar or another yoghurt pot size portion of our freezer stash
6/6.30ish (although if it's later we do get the demon baby from the bowels of hell - she's very much ready to head to bed by about 6.15 most days... her cousin is exactly the same apparently) 7oz bottle, story and bed
As for tongue tie - my suspicions confirmed today - she's got a minor one... I think that, coupled with the relative size of her compared to my mahoosive norks and her general jaundiced sleepiness meant we never had a chance! (Just wanted to know to slot the pieces into the puzzle for my own mind really)Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0
