Need to set my alarm then? ><

I was doing combo feeding and as we had issues with weight gain at the start we did use alarm reminders on my phone !! If you need to do that then do so just make sure he doesn't go too long without feeding etc

    Thanks :)

I guess he's our original baby and he feels a little put out. I've not picked up a carrier/sling yet but hoping to get one so I can take both out. Finn pulls on the lead so I don't think I'd be able to control the pram as well as the dog x

It might be worth when oh around (if you have the stamina) all of you going out to get him used to pram, I had Dylan on a short leash and held onto the pram still whilst walking, our pram was a tank though (m&p mpx huge thing) Dylan got used to walking close to pram, it's worth persevering to get him used to that, Dylan does pull but we do have him on a harness so he doesn't hurt himself etc and handy up hills !! I could not have walked a pulling Dylan whilst carrying Scott as I would have splatted myself lol ! But perhaps you have better balance than me !!

Evening ladies, Bamama how are you getting on now? Think you've had some good advice from Everyone so far, my mw said 5 hours was ok for him to go during the night for the first few weeks, as long as he was gaining weight ok.

Thanks for tips on pooping, not to put too fine a point on it we don't have that issue any more :rotfl: he went while I was washing up earlier, while OH was playing with him - cue OH yelling for me and standing at the other side room groaning while I changed him. Big girls blouse!!!!

Hope everyone got a bit more sleep last night? G didn't wake til nearly 4 for his first feed which is a record for us recently! Then up at 7 but gave him a sip of water and he went back off for another hour and a half. I was convinced the hvs were wrong about giving him water, I was so sure it'd just wind him up, but it works an absolute treat!

Bamama and jonno7, I have a 3 week old too who I'm bfing and god I definitely feel your pain. Oscar never settles if I put him down and I have the addded issue of comfort feeding - I feel like a milk machine! However today we've had a breakthrough! I've purchased a Moby wrap and he loves it. He falls asleep in it and he hasn't been comfort feeding so I can get things done. We still haven't mastered feeding yet but I'm sure we will with practice.
Have I helped? Feel free to click the 'Thanks' button. I like to feel useful (and smug). ;)

Maybe I need to pay more attention to the squirming like I did in hospital XD

    I'm just useless mun, honestly!

You are soooooo not useless as a mum. The fact that you are thinking and worrying about it, shows you aren't.

All baba's are different, but the hunger signs for CJ, were mainly her tongue poking in and out, smacking her lips, being restless, and crying. It took a good few weeks for me to notice all her little tells and react. And yes, i did use a timer of sorts! I downloaded a free baby tracking app, which i could enter nappies, sleep and feeds into, and my god! It was a total lifesaver for helping spot what they problem was when she cried, especially in the tired haze when most of the time i had no idea when i last did what!!

  • Hi all happy to say I think the needle sensation was a poor latch I've been trying to master cross body feeding rather than rugby ball but I don't think little miss has got the hang
Of the latch yet - no furthe needles so hopefully escaped thrush this week at least!!

Bamama - I would probably try waking the baby for a few more feeds. Though i wouktThey say 6-8 wet nappies per day does he get that? The midwives in hospital drove me mad & made me wake the baby every 3 hours to feed her even though she was zonked so I appreciate feeding a tired baby is not easy. My OH does the winding and nappy changes when he is home and is always on hand to get me a drink or some food which makes me feel like we both do something!

Kira it wasn't a typo. I keep forgetting us Welshies are weird. Mun = man/mate :) I was saying I'm useless in general.

Moneypenny, I change him before every feed and midway through this cluster feeding. So I'm getting 6-8. But he never cries... when he wakes he squirms and may let out little cries. It's so hard when he barely makes a peep. Just fed him, picked him up and he sucked for 5 min, gone back down and he didn't wake. He was snoring so I gave him a pat and he's stopped.

Kira how did you know when to feed at night if there were no cried? I really don't want to aet an alarm and disturb OH especially when he goes back to work. I know everyone's advice is 4 hours (or 5) but if we can make up the feeds in the day then wpuld there be so much of a problem with 6/7/8 hours? I'd never leave him if he cried for a feed but... Gah I dunno sounds like I'm making excuses or something :(

Bamama, if he is wetting his nappies, that is a sign he is getting enough most definitely. If you feel he is eating enough during the day I wouldn't wake him. I'd ask a health professional there opinion when you next see them and go from there :o Is he still taking the meds that make him sleepy? If he is then yes I'd probably wake him x

Bamama, not looked back to see if anyone has suggested this already, but sometimes you can do what is called a dreamfeed rather than waking the baby right up. If you brush the nipple across the cheek, some babies will open up for food without actually waking up. :)
