Hi ladies :D hope everyone had good Christmases? Ours was a little mixed as we had a terrible night with George on Christmas Eve- we didn't get more than 45 minutes unbroken sleep all night - and he was in a foul mood for pretty much the whole day, think it was teeth although calpol barely took the edge offit. And he slept through the whole of dinner and the whole of the present giving! We ended up only giving him 3 presents on the day itself! Had another bad night last night but he's been in a much better mood today. Just got to the in laws now, fish and chips for tea! Got a huge box full of unopened presents to give George over the next couple of days.

Jannine -so glad to hear Poppy is doing well! I'll pm you for a link, I'd love to read your article

Marta - Dizzi is the queen of slings, I'm sure she'll be able to advise :)

Katie, sorry to hear you've had a couple of bad nights, hope tonight is better. Our xmas was good - LO loved ripping the wrapping paper to pieces :) Her sleeping's gone to pot too - not as bad as George's, but worse than it has been; in her case I think it's the excitement of almost crawling - last night she was practising at 3am! And the previous night she was so unsettled I ended up putting her in bed with me, and woke up to find her near my feet! Oh well.

    Hello all :D

Katiechoc - sorry you had a teething baba at Christmas poor thing x

Marta - glad LO has gained well and you have good oh
When using hot water I understand should not add just boiled water to powder as may destroy some nutrients I usually just wait a bit say 10 mins, I am talking about doing option A method. Also to cool bottles I just use a spare washing up
Bowl and fill with water and pop bottles in for 20 mins (I use oven timer) then pop in back of fridge not the door.
Another thing I used milk powder pots to have milk powder ready measured (and no never sterilised them just warm soapy water and rinse), useful when doing batches of bottles and when number if scoops increases and ability to count wanes delegate task to oh lol

Nutella - sympathies with the sleep ! The teething and developmental
Thing does seem to wreak havoc. Scott was good upto 7 months but since teething started sleep is up and down !! And he's 11 months :0!

Hi Ro! Hope you had a good Christmas and that Scott enjoyed all the paper and presents! :)
  • It's a bit of a guess that it was teething tbh, I guess it could be because of being in the travel cot in a new place and a bit out of routine. He slept for over three hours yesterday though and I really thought he'd wake up and have a mouthful of teeth!

What were everyone's top presents? Mummies and babies! Mine: necklace from OH, mine and OH's initials engraved on a heart charm with a g engraved on a tiny round charm next to it. George's (so far, got a bajillion left to open) I think it'd have to be his Lamaze Rusty Robot but he also likes the rattle ball we got him too :)

Oh I'll wait and see what dizzie says about the sling then.
I was shopping at Amazon and bought a travel crib/cot for the living room using the £10 discount offer for joining the family club, so it went down just below £40. We thought about buying a second moses, but once we got the stand for it, it was almost the same price. It's a small one, moses size, but it has the "basinette "/crib on top, which you can remove later on to get a small cot.
This is the link, Graco travel basinette /cot.

  • Thanks for the kind welcome :) and all the answers to my dummy question.

Hope you all had a nice Xmas & boxing day.

Had the baby last week & am totally in love. She feeds really well At the monent about every 4 hourswhich is great or i think id have given up By now. She has has a few bottles even though they advise not to mix abd match its been a necessity. I'm feeling A bit sore today as I've got a post section infection :( hopefully stitches out tomorrow.

The baby goes down great after a feed in the day but just won't settle at night after a feed, it's like she is a different child - this is why we wanted to try the dummy. If she gets restless in the day she has it for a minute and settles...but not even a little bit calmer at night with it. She is now staring at me with her beautiful eyes refusing to go to sleep!! Little monkey! mama needs a sleep but it's daddy's turn at the moment.

I can't seem to get over the pangs of her growing up too fast & I'm sure it won't get any better!!

Thanks again for the advice & thanks for the advice I got from here when I was pregnant :) so much of it came in handy :)
  • Happy Christmas everyone! Reuben loved ripping the paper, and even helped me open some of my presents ;)

Ref slings, you just want a stretchy to start with. I have a second hand tricot slen, it cost me £15 plus postage - thats a reasonable price. Or if you Google victoria slinglady, she's a woman who makes them and sells at good prices and is well recommended. You can usually see some of hers on ebay.

I LOVE my sling, so much so that ive progressed to a proper woven one that i can carry him on my back with. They are wonderful.

Takes a few goes to get the hang of the ties, but once youve got it you can do it with your eyes closed and a sleeping baby haha!

marta you mention you have a carrier, can i just say, please don't carry your baby facing outwards. It puts pressure on their spine and hips - if yoou google it there is a lot of infor out there, sorry cant post a link as on my phone. ANyway, baby should be tummy to your tummy, and close enough to kiss. Check on them often, make sure their airways are clear, make sure not too hot. Reuben used to be falling asleep before I'd even finished tying it, it was a godsend when he was tiny. No he's bigger, he loves being up high and looking around at everything! :)
