  • Morning ladies

Sorry to hear about your nan sammie :( yay for crawling though!

    Turtle how was last night?

Hope the cough is on its way out now Nutella?

We've changed our bedtime routine now, trying to get him to stop associating eating with sleep in a vain attempt to get him to settle himself in the night. So last night he had tea, with a couple of spoons of some 'proper' baby food alongside the pork stir fry we had, then play, then boob feed, bowl of baby porridge (trying to fill him up so thered be less waking!) then pjs, story and bed. I was expecting tears as he's used to being fed then put straight into the cot but he was fine! Was still up in the night twice but hopefully its a start.

Oh and he almost just pulled the Xmas tree over. Monster.

Good luck with your new routine katiechoc. Hope it works for you, I don't know how you ladies do it everynight! Noah woke up once last night for the first time in ages and in shattered! ;) oh no hope he doesn't end up with the Christmas tree on top of him!

I took this pic last week of my biggest and smallest monkeys watching tv together. :D

  • Aw that pic is so sweet sammie :)

Just been to get him weighed, 19lb 4 now. Decided to carry him instead of faff about with the pushchair as its only a 5 minute walk - 5 minutes is actually quite along time to be carrying a lump like my George! Got a dead arm now. Asked the hv for any tips on stopping the night wakes all she said was to let him cry a bit or give him water. Oh and get OH to go in to him more as he knows I've got the milk so might settle more for OH. That's going to go down well when I tell hubs :rotfl:

Wats everyone upto today? Quiet on here at the moment :(. I was going to go to farnborough as I want a wallet for OHs crimbo present (going to put a pic of me and G in it too) but topman farnborough is the only place that has the one I want. Not sure I can face going out again now I'm sat down...

Tk maxx is good for wallets katie

As advised by kira, gilly and others, I used a method from a book that i cant remembr the bloomin name of right now, gentle sleep solutions I think. Anyway, like katie's George, Reuben is used to boob and sleep so associates the two. I broke the association - pjs, upstairs, sleeping bag, feed but kept waking him up like when he was a newborn (a gentle tug on the earlobe usually works!), then read a story a few times (so he is awake), then in to the cot awake....its to teach him to go to sleep by himself, otherwise normally he falls asleep on me, gets out in the cot, then wakes up screaming because im not there.

So anyway even though they cry, don't pick them up, but do cuddle them. So I was bent over like a contortionist, I was practically in the cot myself lol, cuddling him, patting his back, sssshing etc. We had half an hour of crying (but no tears, was temper!) First night, and second night ten mins. He's even started putting himself to sleep for day time naps. Marvellous. Eventually I will withdraw, so will just jave a hand on him, then just sit near cot, then further away etc.

He's sleeping much longer stretches and going back down lovely after a night feed, so we are only having one night wake now.

It's great, I couldn't do a CIO method, but even though he cried, i was holding him and cuddling him, stroking him, talking to him etc so he knew I was there. So I felt ok.

Katiechoc - many times I have thought I will carry Noah instead of getting the pushchair out and every time I regret it!! They are lumps aren't they!!

Just got back from town and bought DP some new trainers for Christmas, now I'm thinking they might not fit as he has quite wide feet and struggles with trainers. I will have to have a look what their returns policy is as to whether I give them to him at crimbo, or get him to try them on before. Just going to give Noah some lunch and grab a cuppa.

Woohoo, the thread is moving again lol. Thought you'd all deserted yesterday!!

Hope everyone is well, and glad the new sleeping routines are working. Charlie is a delight to put to bed now a days. We do bath, massage with cream, dressed, bottle, bed. He doesn't even make a sound when you put him down.
The only problem we have, is that he still wakes once between 11-3 for a feed. Any time after 5am I don't mind, but not before. So need to break that habit. Coz i know he's not hungry, its just habit.

I have just bought a non slip bath mat, because my little monkey is starting to stand in the bath lol. I need to buy something to put over those metal taps!!! x

We still are at the stage of a sucky cup bath chair since she's relatively immobile and can't fully sit unaided it helps free up both hands to do things like shampoo etc!

Now got some cardboard boxes so the washing/sorting the mountain of baby clothes can begin in earnest - only washing prem/newborn sized ones for now - just sorting the rest through and I'll wash 'em nearer being needed... need to turf the 6-9 month stuff out of drawers as well since things like the vests are not even coming close to fitting her anymore - but that's a job for the weekend I think (along with packing to go away for Xmas).
