    Hi ladies.
Not been around much as my nan is very poorly. She has an illness and the last week she has had problems regarding her throat and now she can no longer talk and there is nothing that can be done. its starting to effect her badly. :(

Anyway on a more positive note, nearly finished Christmas shopping, just need to get 3 more pressies. I've even wrapped everything, I'm super organised this year!
    Xx

Ah so sorry to hear that hun. Massive hugs. Hope she recovers and feels better real soon. Hugs x

Good news on the shopping front though! I haven't wrapped a thing! :0

  • Oh I see we've moved again!

I've had presents bought and wrapped for months - but I hate Xmas shopping with a passion! Going to pick up 1st birthday prezzies in the January sales as I haven't got that much new baby stuff to buy and with the due date being 1 week after her first birthday I'm likely to be somewhat distracted (hubby's under orders that if I end up incarcerated at the hands of the NHS again he's bringing prezzies and little miss to the hospital to do the whole birthday thing there)!

Sorry about your nan Sammie - and to everyone who has poorly babies. I've got a stinking cold I'm fighting off myself - praying the bairn doesn't get it.

I'm also evil because I washed the comfort bunny this morning - just after she'd got his ears all crispy and crunchy with slobber again as well!

Ahh thanks everyone. It horrible having to watch her suffer, it seems like she isn't even enjoying life anymore she is just "living" if that makes sense. It scares the boys too, so I don't really like taking them round there anymore as they don't understand.

We bought a new sofa today. :D it takes 6 weeks to be delivered so that will give us time to get the lounge plastered and painted.
Oh and forgot to say earlier Noah is crawling, very slowly but he's crawling!! :j:j

  • Oh sammie *hugs*

    :j for crawling though!

Well I have to thank some lovely mummies with older babies who have given me smashing tips re sleep.....Reuben went to bed at 730, and 3 hrs later is still asleep, no wake ups, no nothing.....this is unheard of!! I've done all the washing up, taken all the shelves out of the fridge and freezer, cleaned them, bleached inside them both and out all back together, cleared part of the garage.....and had a mess about on the computer. It's been amazing! All this spare time!!!

And he even put himself down for one of his naps today!!

I have a horrific hacking chesty cough, it's so bad I'm sitting here with the bin next to me just in case, because I keep coughing so hrd it's making me retch :( can't take any decent medicine because of BFing, grr!
  • Hi all

Sammie, big hugs xxx great news on the crawling though.

Turtle. Yay!! Whats the secret to getting him settled then?!.

Aiden has been alot better today. I rang nursery and they said he could go in the afternoon if he was clear so I took the morning off. He has been loads better, still a bit warm so have been calpoling him. But he was fine at nursery. Aidens lovely doctor even rang us earlier to see if he was alright, not sure if thr hosp pass on what happened etc. I think I am obsessed with how nice his doc is!!

I havent wrapped any presents except for Aidens....I am starting wrapping tomoz!

  • can i get some advice re formula feeding.
my wee girl is 4 days old and was getting 30mls every 3 hours until today. She is constantly hungry and decided to increase her feeds to 60mls every 3 hours. she is still hungry and am feeding her every 2 1/2 hours when she takes 60mls. She doesn't boke up much after winding. Is this normal? grateful for any advice.

Every 2 hours is normal at that age, there stomachs are the size of a marble, so they can't hold much. I wouldn't be concerned in the slightest. Try and feed on demand rather than to a schedule. Would she take more than the 60mls? If she is draining the bottle I'd go up another oz (I think that's 30mls?) Some babies just aren't sicky children, mine never was x

Hello all :) Thanks Gilly for the welcome. Baby boy finally arrived early Sat morning at 9lb4. And I think he might now want some food!

Edit: nope, still not hungry! I woke up at 12 thinking next feed was due and have been waiting ever since!

As for sleeping while feeding I think we have the same 'problem' but as their tummies are so small at this age I'm not too worried yet, he does get some good feeds in and has enough wet nappies. Midwife friend of mine suggested tickling under chin rather than cheek as they normally turn towards a cheek tickle. I've tried back patting, rocking, head stroking, cheek tickling and chin tickling and if he's going to sleep none of them work!! As for the changing first, he HATES being changed and I think comfort sucks after before falling asleep exhausted, so I don't think that will work for us either.

Wet wipe to the feet we were told, we had a sleepy baba who wouldn't wake at all or when he was roused he'd just fall back asleep again, it was a bit of a nightmare, but they are very sleepy after birth, it's tiring for them :o They do tend to wake up more as time goes on. Congratulations again.
