Morning
We were up early too Nutella, but unfortunately didnt have the same long sleep! Fed him twice before getting up at 5.45 with him.
Quick question - I was just about to head into the kitchen and make these http://www.babyledweaning.com/recipes/lunchdinner/alisons-lentil-and-cheese-wedges/ ready for dinner time but I noticed in the comments someone says something about babies under 1 not being ready for egg whites. Is that right? The egg is added before going in the oven so surely it would be all cooked, no different to giving him an omelette or something? Such paranoia!Newborn thread member

Thanks for all the congrats by the way! Got booking tomorrow so got to start filling all those forms out again and have the orange book again!
We've got an oyster which has parent facing option and I hated having her the other way around so I couldn't see her! It's fairly light for a travel system and just about fits in the boot of my little clio with the pushchair bit on. It won't work for two babies though so I'll either have to get something else or babywear the little one!
I haven't got a next stage carseat yet as my munchkin is pretty small and still fits nicely in her first one. I'm getting a new car soon (next couple of weeks) so once I have that I'll be looking for a seat to fit so I can move her on. I want a rear facing one but don't at the moment know what will fit in the astra.
Katiechoc I thought like you that the only problem was uncooked egg, although if they are lion marked even that shouldn't be an issue (not that I'm gonna start feeding her raw eggs but I don't think it's something to get worried about!).
We had an alright sleep her but she was a bit restless and DH is still poorly so he was in and out of bed and then on the sofa, and is back in bed now occasionally groaning if I go in to check on him!:heartpuls Daughter born January 2012 :heartpuls Son born February 2014 :heartpuls

On eggs, Annabel says: 'Eggs are an excellent source of protein and also contain iron and zinc. Do not serve raw or lightly cooked eggs to babies under one year as there is a risk of salmonella. The white and yolk should be cooked until solid. Hard-boiled eggs, omelettes or well-cooked scrambled eggs are fast to cook and nutritious'.
Love the sound of that recipe - will definitely make that! My LO loves lentils, in fact I've got some creamy coconut lentils defrosting in the kitchen for her dinner
We're having French toast in a bit - as long as it's properly cooked I'm not worried...0 -
Is the B Smart smaller Eleyn? I always thought they looked big, but it's hard to tell when they're up I think.
I want a Cosatto Yo Ahoy pushchair, but I refuse to pay the price for it. I love my pram, still love it as much as the day I bought it but it is huge. I still want him parent facing though which dictates which pushchairs I could actually get, was looking at the Quinny Zapp Xtra too.
Well, it's described as having a "compact fold" to easily fit into car boots. I hope it's going to fit anyway!0 -
Elelyn - I have the cotbed version but I don't like it like I did the Moses & crib versions sorry should have put that in my last post !!! It comes in sections so that you move the dip as the child grows but my issue with it is the foam is not as firm as I would like and now Scott moves around so much it meant the dip wasn't getting used lol might be better to investigate others suggestions re special pillows.
Okay, thanks for that. Might not bother then seeing as we've got a really nice expensive mattress at the moment. I'm supposed to be saving not spending but I keep finding more things I "need".0 -
Hi eveyone, sorry to just keep dipping in and out but I don't have much time to myself at the minute to read back (you'll see why in a jiffy!). I know you ladies are a wealth of knowledge and have been through similiar things so I'm just after some advice please with regards to daytime naps.
Does anyone have any tips in getting LO to take daytime naps? I know she's tired, I watch out for the signs, make sure she is only awake for between 1 1/2 & 2 1/2 hours at a time yet it's still such a battle to get her to sleep. I have to pace, pat, rock, ssshhh etc and then she will only nap for 30 mins at a time which means I never get anything done & she's still grouchy. The last 2 days I have resorted to putting her in the car seat and rocking it as at least then I don't have to move her & she will sleep for a couple of hours.
Ideally I would like to put her in the basket/cot and get her to realise its nap time but is she too young for this (13 weeks) and how do I go about it? Thanks all.0 -
yummy that lentil recipe sounds good! I bought some red lentils for the first time the other day, not sure why, and have been looking at them every time I open the cupboard thinking why did i buy you! Now i know why lol
The fb meet is in southampton, so it's 3 hrs driving each way for meI don't actually mind the time (and Reuben snoozes in the car) its just worrying that i would be too tired for the return journey.
nutella Lol well I'm glad I have given you a shopping list for aldi! What size nappies are you on? We use 4s and they have a blue giraffe one, whereas the 3s had a yellow one. I'm excited to see what the 4+ have but he's not outgrown the 4s yet!
We had a hell of a night last night, boob from 7:30 to 9:30 (and screaming if I moved away). So at 9:40 I decided to 'parent up' and stop doing the easy thing (ie boob). So I rocked, cuddled and shushed him. He screamed non stop for 50 minutes, and then I cracked and gave him boob again. After ten mins he had calmed, was asleep and I transferred to cot. I thought, great! I can at least have half an hour downstairs with OH before bed...I went downstairs....and fell down them. I landed on my back (spectacular bruise this morning!), carpet burned my elbows, slid down a bit on my back then hit the bottom and sort of rolled, banging my leg on the wooden bit at the side, and whacking my shoulder off the wall at the bottom, jarring my neck. And all the banging woke Reuben up! Argh! So I admitted defeat and went to bed with baby in tow
Fingers crossed today is a better day!!!0 -

I think I have a wannabe shoplifter on my hands! Just went to sainsburys as got halfway through the lentil things (thanks for the egg reassurance btw) and realised we have no cheese, put him in the big boy seat for the first time and he kept trying to swipe things off the shelves!
turtle hope your back is ok!
Yeah I'm about an hour or so from Southampton so could possibly make it for a meet up - if non fbers are allowed?!Newborn thread member
