Morning all, come to check up and know I have missed loads again. From reading a couple of pages I want to go slap dizzi's MIL though - so sorry she is like that but tbh I'm cross at your hubby for not standing up to her as well! I have obviously missed that you are pregnant so many congratulations!!

This morning so far has been all about illness. I'm fine but babber is not shifting the cough she's had since a bad cold about 3 weeks back and it's gone all chesty now. Trying to get hold of the drs surgery but it is constantly engaged and I'm getting more wound up because I can't get through to get my mind put to rest. She seems fine in herself but it's not right. Hubby got up, complained about running hot and cold then went upstairs and came back a few mins later to tell me 'my bottom has fallen out' so he has rung in sick to work and gone back to bed.

Thankfully apart from being tired and worried about the babber's chest, I'm alright as it looks like I've got two babies to look after today! Or 3 actually since I'm about 9+2 with #2 (with any luck). I have to tidy the house today as the midwife is coming wednesday for my booking appt and what with the baby and the cats it looks somewhat like a bomb full of baby toys and jingly balls has exploded over our living room!

    Congratulations crabapple.

Morning mozzy!! Have a nice day at work.

Katiechoc - you sound like you have a busy day planned, I cleaned my car out when we bought our new pushchair and car seat! I wanted it to look really nice!

I've been up most of the night with Noah as he has been coughing and sniffing constantly. He is in bed again now, he's shattered poor mite.
Obviously I don't want to take him out today, apart from picking the boys up, so I'm going to have a good clean of the house and sort my banking out! Fun fun fun!!

  • Yeah we have the cough as well (a very dainty little cough I have to say) it's been lingering for a week or so - haven't had her to the docs as I know she's already got suspected childhood asthma (had an emergency rush to the GPs when she was about 3-4 weeks old and wouldn't stop wheezing - dreadful time thinking it was possible animal allergies which it doesn't seem to be) and an inhaler for it (hubby grew out of his by about age 5, I never have) and it seems to be following the pattern these things do with my asthma - cold > cough that hangs around for a few weeks and it's not bothering her much so I'm just keeping an eye on it and giving her her inhaler with the stormtrooper mask bit as and when it's needed.

Nutella....wait til you see what broccoli does. Little green bogey looking things everywhere!

I was in town doing a bit of Xmas shopping yesterday, and Reuben and I waited for OH off the bus home from work. We popped and had a wetherspoons dinner (it was curry night)...while OH was in the loo I had Reuben standing on my lap facing me, when suddenly he bopped me on the nose really hard and made it bleed!! Not just a little bit, a proper full on nose bleed!! I was sitting there trying to hang on to Reuben with a tissue covering my face, waiting for OH to come back from the loo so I could sort myself out! Little bully!

LOL! Freddie headbutted me the other day and split my lip. Monsters, aren't they? :D

Wow, Nutella that's so helpful - thank you! I've made an appointment with our GP on Monday and will see what he says but will deffo look into the company you have mentioned too. I'd rather see what we can do now before it gets any worse.

I do try and do plenty of tummy time with him during the day. He's not too keen though and it often ends with him spewing up everywhere - nice! He likes to be sat upright now too so I spend a lot of time on the floor with him sat in between my legs where he's nice and supported. I'm sure this will all help. I've also taken to letting him nap in his bouncer and turning his head to the other (non flattened) side, propping the other side with a rolled towel so he can't turn it back.

Bless him though, we went to my mom's yesterday afternoon as my Aunt and Uncle who haven't met him yet were visting. He ended up being awake through his usual naptime so he was worn out. I think he's catching up today as he's been asleep for nearly two hours now! At least I can catch up with some jobs whilst he's snoozing (and get on here).

Still catching up, so I've only gone back a couple of pages so far. :D

Dizzi, good to 'see' you back, and congratulations! :) Have you tried being really abrupt with the MIL? Stop what you're doing, say 'I'm sorry but you're really in the way, I'm going to have to ask you to move'. And if she doesn't, pick everything up and leave the room to do it elsewhere. It's a pain, but she might get the message eventually. Or pick a room where she isn't allowed to go, so you can go do stuff in private. Again, politely, 'I'd rather you didn't come in here, it's private'.

As for the comments, I think that's just a granny thing. My mother doesn't do it, but the other half's mum does, and it does irrationally annoy me. Comments like 'ooohh he's eating it for Nanny' or 'oh, I think he's teething', or, 'we want X mummy, not Y'. 1) he would have eaten it anyway, he's hungry. 2) he might be, but he's been chewing for months, I only consider it teething when I see a tooth. :D It's either something I already know, or totally wrong most of the time, but I generally ignore as I know they don't mean to annoy.

I was there this weekend, and they were letting him cruise round the coffee table throwing stuff about. The next day, I was in there playing with him, and there's a bloody great plastic headed pin sat on the table. That is the sort of carelessness that really makes me cross. I don't mind if he's expected to sit and leave stuff alone, but if they want him to run around freely, it has to be safe.

We've got a vile snotty cold here, he's eating, but can't breathe properly through his nose to get his milk!

Oh god do not get me started on teething on demand! She's been pre-teething for months but with no success (I've got a feeling she's going to do them in a really odd order as well - she's got one of her back ones that feels like it has the most progress on it) and every week we get demanded to know if she's got one yet, why hasn't she got one, blessed grandson had three by now... yes, she's teething late - deal with it!

Dreading Thursday/Friday - can't even get hubby to work from home as his laptop's borked (again)... it's either murder, or spending days plotting with the baby for her to do a really massive stealth ninja vertical wee - of the sort normally reserved for horrid health visity woman who doesn't have a clue about preemies - when we've got the nose in a nappy change.

It's just everything - from declaring that they were going to be called X and Y (without a thought for my parents or what we might want to call them), just through to the blatant favouritism with the precious grandson Vs us... just grrrrrr!

Then we'll have the festive minefield of the "stolen" dog's name and the relative in question going ballistic when she meets (yet again cos she knows full well we've got the insane canine with that name) the original owner of the name - that one's likely to be an interesting strop and she's likely to start demanding we change the dog's name which ain't gonna happen!

    Am considering hibernation!

Oh and was woken up today by a small finger (with fingernail the length of talons - again - despite me cutting them two days ago) being rammed repeatedly up my left nostril!
