Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Sunday 1st January. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Good Morning everyone
Well here we are, a shiney new year, here's hoping for a year of peace & happiness, with freedom from illness & stress.
I have my first cuppa of the year, what more could I want.
I don't make resolutions as I know I won't keep them, I'm hoping to find some way of bringing in an income apart from work, I have already enquired about dog sitting, unfortunately none of the agency's will consider me as I can only sit for 12 weeks of the year, albeit the busiest 12 weeks. I would also like to find a way to sell some of the things I make, I know some of them are saleable as I was making about £250 in the runup to Christmas, just selling to staff at work. Unfortunately the current head put a stop to it. So now I'm looking for another outlet.
I can retire in 18 months & although I don't want to & although the current law states that I cannot be forced to retire I have seen over the years that the school is more than able to circumvent the law & force people out if they should so choose. We have a lot of staff changes in January so it will be interesting to meet new people & see them making their mark.
I've waffled on long enough now.
Wishing everyone a stressfree New Year
Hugs Hester

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
  • Morning All!!!!

I'm still here... fat and miserable!!! At this point in my pregnancy with my son, he would have been half an hour old...! *Sigh*

We managed to de-christmas the house yesterday and DH made a small dent in the housework... Got fed up this morning as I tripped twice over the 'charity shop' pile during the night! Anyway, I think he'll finish it this afternoon after Church, then tomorrow can be a lazy day :D

I just sold my exercise bike on eBay and got £51... I was hoping for £50 so I had the money to get Roo a Passport next year for when we go to Norway :D

I am going to spend this afternoon trying to simplify my ISA Spreadsheet! It's driving me potty! I wonder if nesting drives a woman to want to simplify everything... it seems like everything is just driving me crazy at the moment! Clutter, money.... everything!

Hope everyone has a nice Sunday x
We spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. I don't and I'm happy!

    Morning :hello:

Apart from cleaning out all the animals, I have no plans for today :D

We have bits of buffet food leftover so I'll put it all on plates on the table and it can stay there all day, we can pick at it whenever we're feeling a bit hungry.

Not sure if master tru will be here for food, he went out last night and hasn't made it home yet. He split up with his girlfriend yesterday. I [STRIKE]do[/STRIKE] did like her but I've always thought she was a bit something, but I couldn't put my finger on it. The something turned out to be phsyco - sorry if that word offends but there's no other way to decribe it. I was so worried that she'd do something weird when he had to go round to collect his work tools that I offered to go with him, just in case something happened. He revealed that the other day she was so bad he ended up calling the police (she'd threatened to stab him ), her mum took her little girl back to her house til she calmed down. Dunno why I'm telling you this (there's more to tell but it'd take ages to type it all) but I feel better getting this out.

    Anyway, Happy_New_Year_Sign_by_Mirz123.gif:D

Oooh and if you like stand up comedy, you'll love Sarah Millican's Chatterbox and Reginald D Hunter's Live. I was :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: at both of them :D

Hardup Hester, why bother going through a pet sitting agency and losing half the profit? If you can only ever do 12 weeks, a month before your 12 weeks starts, flood the local shops with adverts made by yourself (if its the summer 12 weeks you'll be able to pick and choose!!) and Sit on your own terms. You never know, you might like it so much it may become a more permanent thing...
  • Good morning everyone and Happy New Year to you all. I was hoping we were going to have a better year this year. Not off to a good start as DD's alopecia started up again on Wednesday. Late Wednesday night a few of her eyelashes came out, by the time she got up Thursday all of them were out and all of the eyebrows and hair on upper lip etc etc.
Everyone else in my household is still asleep, even the dog. Plenty of time for me to catch up on here.
No real plans today. Loads of ironing to catch up on. I' m going to have to sort out the cupboards a bit at some stage to see how much food we have in.
I hope everyone has a good day.

Morning all and a very happy new year to you all I hope 2012 will be generous to you in all aspects :D

I was in bed fairly early last night had a big day spent with the horses and dogs so we were outside quite a bit. I cooked dinner last night before DH went to work and decided I would have a bath as well to wind down. I sorted through my wardrobes last night as well and gave those a good tidy up - I have some more stuff to go on Ebay but I am inclined to leave it until March time before selling stuff as January and February tend to be lean months for people money wise.

Last night DH had to work but he said it was a very busy shift indeed, pretty much domestics all the way through from start to finish  you would think people would give it up for New Year wouldn't you! He walked in late this morning so I am keeping the house quiet for him today.

The Labrador had an accident on his bed in the night so I have had to strip that and wash it. I am loathed to wash on New Years Day, but in this case I simply had no choice! :(

I shall cook lunch for around 3pmish of roast beef and yorkshires etc. This morning I intend to do quiet stuff such as polishing the brass, cleaning and polishing shoes and boots and I might vac the car out as well. I need to sweep up around the front door and get the old calendar down and put the new one up!

Hope you all have a fine but peaceful day today - take care x
