I understand the difference between discussion between male colleagues/friends and acting on it (totally different matter!)
So, please don't insult my intelligence thank you very much.
But you don't understand the impact of your actions on women. Just because they don't shout, don't have their nervous breakdown in front of you, doesn't mean it is all jolly good fun. And just because you and your blokey mates think it is acceptable behaviour, doesn't make it so for everyone, and does not make everyone who does not agree with you stupid/unreasonable.
I'm happy to have a proper debate but I have no intention of being subject to ad hominem debating techniques. So facts, or running away, you choose.Debt free 4th April 2007.

Hey Gaz, didn't you get the memo?
If you smoke a joint, you are one step away from being a crack addict.
Likewise, if you make any suggestive comments about women, you are probably a rapist in waiting.0 -

I'm glad I don't work with you too!!
Like I say, you need to know who you can banter with and who will grass you up to your manager. The job I do can be miserable, dealing with people who are some of the worst that society has to offer, and as such, the ability to have a good old belly laugh with people who have a similar sense of humour, about stuff that more often than not you know you shouldn't really be saying, really helps. I've had some of the best laughs ever with my colleagues, where you're driving home later on your own and you burst out laughing thinking about it.
I remember my auntie being in a similar situation - different job but even more horrific, the stuff she had to deal with. I used to love the stories she used to tell about what they'd get up to, the jokes they used to share and so on, proper black humour. But I genuinely think that without it they'd have gone insane.

If someone around you is saying things to offend you, walk away, simple as that! You can ask them to stop by all means but don't be surprised if people tell you where to go!
You were as I'm sure you know but then again probably you think the comments were 'harmless banter'. :rotfl:

Oh, and maybe I should also point out that there have been instances I've been aware of (although not involving me) where lines have been crossed and it's no longer banter or fun, and it's been quite obvious that lines have been crossed and in the cases I've been aware of it's been dealt with accordingly. I couldn't really explain why in some cases it's overstepping the mark, maybe it's instinctive, but imo it's pretty obvious when it's a joke and when it's not.

If you don't want to partake in it then that's your right, but who are you to comment on what other people say?
aren't you commenting on what other people are saying too? We all have the right to voice our opinions.:j Comping wins: Gig tickets, Lovemydog tag, Country Livings Christmas fair tickets

If you make disgustingly suggestive comments about women you're a mindless perv that needs to get a life. No one is suggesting anyone is a rapist in waiting.:j Comping wins: Gig tickets, Lovemydog tag, Country Livings Christmas fair tickets

Sometimes seeing someone very attractive to you makes you appreciate that more. There are a few times this has happened for me -once when at a Man in the Mirror (MJ tribute show) at the theatre,me and my friend were absolutely swooning over one of the singers and whispering 'I want to love you too' when he was singing 'I wanna love you, pretty young thing' (in our direction:rotfl:) and had made a few comments to each other while lustingly beaming at him...but that ended up leading to me thinking of my man and beaming over him and messaging him. So,I think being normal, still seeing attraction not only makes you a human being but also makes you appreciate what you have!If women are birds and freedom is flight are trapped women Dodos?0 -

You never know! Sharon Stone was in Middlesbrough for some event a few years back!
But come now, John Cusack and Cameron Diaz are the only ones? I bet there's one or two more you could possibly spy on a nice outing to the right streets in London.

This is just splitting hairs, talking in this way is not a discussion in any way I recognise.
A discussion is where words are exchanged between two people - if the content is offensive and is overheard by the subject of the discussion or someone else who doesn't approve then fair enough.
But, in general, no-one can tell anyone else what they should or shouldn't discuss.
I'm not surprised you don't recognise what a discussion is as you clearly don't grasp the concept.0
