My other half took me on when I was 14 weeks pregnant.....

We are still together and he is the best father.

He drives for an hour after work to see us three times a week and doesn't complain when I make him take me to Morrisons on his day off.

He brings me flowers because he knows that my horrible ex wouldn't purely on the basis that I 'didn't deserve flowers'

He can't cook, he hates cleaning. But he will feed the baby and rock him to sleep and calm him down when he is screaming letting me have an evening off from being a mum.
    Money money money.

After one violent marriage and plenty of failed relationships I couldn't beleive my luck when I found HWTHMBO - he is 48 but doesn't look it (except his salt and pepper hair & beard), we've been together for 15 years and have 2 boys (aged 11 & 7). He looks after himself and is 'well fit'.
He gets up at 5.30am does his work out, eats his brekkie, empties the dishwasher, empties the washing machine and takes down dry laundry/hangs up wet laundry. gets the boys up at 7, feeds them breakfast, gets them ready for school, wakes me gently with a cuppa in bed at 7.15. Wakes me up again when he leaves at 7.45 to take DS#1 to school by motorcycle on his way (well, not really) to work. So all I have to do is get ready for work and take DS#2 to school on my way to work.
he helps the boys with their homework (Maths is not my strong point), can cook simple meals and knows which end of the vacuum cleaner is which (he was like that when I got him) and he's a great dad.
The best bit is my bike club liked him from the off... just as well really as they are my family after all!
He's practical and can fix almost anything in fact DS#1 & #2's friends bring their broken stuff to ours for 'Daddy mend'...
and for all his help around the house and with the boys, I certainly don't begrudge the countless hours he spends in his 'man cave' (aka garage) on his projects (currently rebuilding a GS400 motorcycle, before that he rebuilt my CB500 motorbike).
just in case you need to know:
HWTHMBO - He Who Thinks He Must Be Obeyed (gained a promotion, we got Civil Partnered Thank you Steinfeld and Keidan)
    DS#1 - my twenty-five-year old son
DS#2 - my twenty -one son

A violent marriage and a marriage that failed when my daughter from my first marriage died from a brain tumour aged ten, although I still I had two surviving children I felt that I had nothing to live for until I met this amazing man who turned my life on its head. He made me realise I needed to carry on and make my daughters life count for something and live every day as if it was my last instead of trying to make it my last. Together for nine and married for 2 1/2 we now have two little girls of our own and he is an amazing father as well as a husband - although he never planned on doing it all over again his oldest is 25. He never stops he works full time and then is a retained fire fighter he always has time for everyone.
Yes he can be grumpy and moody - yes he isnt perfect - but he is perfect for me !
The question he always asks is would you daughter approve - they knew each other and I know how much she thought of him. I know the answer is yes as he makes me so happy. Her little sisters know that she existed and understand that sometimes I miss her they are 7 and 5 and my husband acknowledges that she will always have a place.
I wouldnt change him for the world he is the most generous loving and kind person that I know x

    Nice thread :-)

I have a lovely man, we aren't married but have been together almost 13 years with one daughter together.

I don't pretend he's perfect because no one is, he can't cook and doesn't clean much but the fact he has managed to put up with me for that amount of time astounds me! lol.

He treats me well, has never been violent towards me and has never said a bad word about me. Loves me if I'm thin (used to be a size 8) or larger (now a size 16), he is a good dad and would never hurt either of us in anyway.

I can't imagine my life without him.

I love my husband so much. He's tall, handsome, and very charming - those are all the things I noticed about him first. But as I got to know him I realised he is intelligent, generous with his time and money, caring, affectionate and good. He's taught me so much and made me a better person for knowing him, and I think I've softened his heart a little too which can only be a good thing. I can't think of anyone who would make a better father to our future children. In fact I'm off work sick today and he's just brought me a cup of tea. He's one in a million.

He is very handsome and after nearly 20 years together I still want to jump his bones!! :)

    This made me LOL!!!

My H2B is near perfect, I say near perfect because no one is perfect, we have our silly disagreements but that is only 2% of the time the other 98% is spent laughing, smiling etc.

We have our own langage almost, like we have silly things we say and do that no one else would get but we find very funny. He makes me laugh all the time and I can't wait to marry him and be MrsP

Brilliant thread, nice to see positives rather than focusing on negatives

Well are am more than happy with my husband No. 2.

We've been married 37 years. He worked hard all his working life in manual jobs and even over the age of 60 after being made redundant managed to secure 3 jobs (1st not very good payers, 2nd moved to Manchester so had to leave, 3rd was Tesco for a couple of years).

He has saved us a fortune over the years as he does most alternation, decorating etc.

He will do anything I ask basically. We do have the traditional roles I have to say. I do the cooking cleaning etc. but then I don't particularly want to get all dirty clearing drains, gardening, washing the car, painting and plastering.

He is still romantic and always tells me he loves me....ahh!!

I have been very lucky especially after husband No. 1

I am extremely lucky and have a fab man

He's away at the minute and won't be home until March. I miss him so much it actually hurts :o I feel like a part of me is missing. But we talk as much as we can and email too. Whenever the phone rings I get butterflies thinking it's him :smileyhea

    Ahhhhh love :D

    I love this thread!!!!

I've been reading MSE and the forum for ages but this is by far one of the best threads I have come across.

Normally people are too quick to dismiss their other-halfs and others even recommend them to do so but this shows their is light before the end of the marriage tunnel

My wife would say the same good things about me btw

Happy and Proud to have her
