Anyone Got a Good Man?
Comments

I'm single and I LOVE this thread.
This can be a fun board, but often the tone is a bit bitter and along the lines of "you should be GRATEFUL you have a man who doesn't beat you and has a job and if you don't you're an ungrateful harridan".
Like it's not the norm to have anything above and beyond "someone to call my partner who sits in my house".
But there's nowt wrong with aspiring to and appreciating the good stuff0 -
I have had a good man since I met him on a blind date when I was 21, and married him the same year. We are still each other's best friend, still prefer our company to anyone else's, still do mad things and still plan our future together after forty years of marriage. He cooks, cleans and maintains the house, still weighs the same as when I first met him and still has a headful of thick curly hair. Love him to bits (even when he grizzles
).

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -
I too have a fantastic husband. We will celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary in 2012 and are going to renew our vows. We have been through a lot of good and very bad times but they only made us stronger. I cant imagine ever being without him.0

There are so many threads on how bad husbands are so I thought I would start one on good men. At the risk of seeming boastful I would like to give my husband some praise.
He is now 61. He has worked hard all his life and is still working in a manual job. He has provided well for the family. All his money is paid into our joint account.
He likes a drink, a beer when he comes in from work but he can take it or leave it. He is a non-smoker.
He will do anything for anyone. He is generous with money and will give money when it is needed. He is always the first to offer to pay for a round of drinks.
He takes care of himself, is well groomed and slim. Always clean and tidy.
He has a sense of humour but is a little bit obsessed with politics and can sometimes be a grumpy old man with his moaning. However, if that's his worst fault its not bad. He is very sociable and fun to have around with the family.
He spends all his free time working on the house - is out there screeding the new extension as I speak. Has spent the whole holiday apart from Christmas Day and Boxing Day working. He cooks meals quite frequently and does housework. He always did more than his share of looking after the children, taking care of them.
He loves going out, loves days out, holidays. Loves the sea. I could go on and on.
Please feel free to say nice things about your men. However, if I get a lot of flack about this I will just delete this post as I can't be asked to have a row about it.
Oh and he's handsome too.
Mum? Is that you?
Sounds exactly like my dad except he's 59.:j little fire cracker born 5th November 2012 :j0 -
This is a lovely idea for a thread and I enjoy reading everyone's happy stories about their lovely men!
I've had my share of relationship trouble and I am currently alone, but I know there are some amazing blokes out there. I certainly don't subscribe to the "all men are b**ards" school of thought.
My father and brothers are excellent examples of loving and respectful men, as are many of my friends' partners.
Hope I meet my special man in 2012 :happyhear0 -

I have a good man, we have been married 18 years. He is a fab dad to our beautiful daughters. He is very handsome and after nearly 20 years together I still want to jump his bones!!Starting weight 17st 4lb - weight now 15st 2lbs
30lb lost of 30lb by June 2012 :j:j:j (80lb overall goal)0 -
I have a brilliant oh, he's kind and gentle with a soft voice, so even when we row it doesn't sound like it!!!
He always does his "share" although I'm now retired and home all day! He's useless at DIY though, I'd be here all day if I listed his "disasters"!! But I'm very good at it, so we usually end up howling laughing at his efforts, he really has a "blank" spot with it!! But I don't care if everything falls off the shelves:D He makes up for it in other ways, which to me is worth more than a few DIY disasters, I can always employ someone to do the decorating etc, if I cannot do it myself!!
