If we're going to include fathers then I'd have to mention my Dad and my FIL. I do feel very lucky to have good men around me and I hope our sons are going to carry on the tradition!

Leanneq: I couldn't disagree with you more! I am single myself and have been for a very long time but I'm really enjoying this lovely heart-warming thread. Part of it gives me hope and the other part is making me fret a tiny little bit that all of the good ones have been snapped up by sensible and perceptive women already and all I'll be left with is the dross rejects.

I think there are loads of good men around. At Asda today I looked around and the shop was full of men shopping with their wives and children, not unwillingly but happy to be part of the family outing. They are all over the place so don't fret.

My man just gave me his last chocolate. :)
  • Tesuhoha you are not helping by telling me how many apparently happily married men there are out there shopping with their lovely families. Tell me about the lovely and well-balanced single men you know who are looking to not be single

But was it a Rolo? :D:D
  • I have a great husband too. In fact I think I have appreciated him more this last year because things have been really tough for us.

He is very untidy and non-domesticated but hey I am not perfect either! He is fantastic with our two kids and would rather spend time with his family than go out boozing with his mates. He has a heart of gold and would do anything to help anyone.

I am so lucky to have been with him for 21 years, we met when we were 18 and had two kids in our 20s but I think our love is stronger now than ever.

Thanks for starting such a positive, happy thread!
  • Few weeks ago I was shopping in a certain frozen food store. (Not the most exciting shop in the world, admittedly!) I could hear hysterical, childish laughter from the next aisle and had to go and see what was going on. A mum, a dad and a little girl were shopping - they were laughing so hard at dad being silly they were almost in tears! Dad was doing everything from zooming the little girl low over the freezers and letting her grab the shopping, to walking along with boxes and bags stacked up high on his head and trying to keep them there, to pretending to 'dance on ice' with the trolley...... I found myself tagging along with them and laughing like an idiot too. I caught the Mum's eye and she said to me -Oh yes, he's ALWAYS like this....!!!! This happy Dad spread innocent laughter throughout the shop and it was delightful.

(And I also have a lovely husband who makes me fall about with laughter, too!)
  • If anyone can find me a good man for 2012 then send them my way! Ps. Must like other males ;)
