Many thanks everyone. He will hopefully start treatment as soon as he has recovered from surgery to reconstruct his lung. Our nephews lovely wife has started a fund/ charity for friends and family to donate to help my little family with day to day living as their insurance only covers 90%. These situations really do show the kindness in others. I appreciate the kind words sent from many of you. There is a meeting next week at his oncology hospital. They expect doctors from all areas of the US to attend as it is so rare what he has. Would be nice if they decided to do this as research and not charge them! Question is that righteous thing for me to pray for, ie no medical bills!

    Hi Ladies

I was hoping you could help me seeing as you all have such wonderful ideas. I am on the PTA at our school and was hoping to be able to get the older kids years 5 and 6 involved in making things to sell at the school fayre. This may be at a lunchtime/ afterschool club.

Has anyone got any very simple and low cost ideas of things that they could make? we sold sweetie bags last year like the ones flying pig makes. Any ideas gratefully received.

    Thank you

Jars of nothing are simple and inexpensive to make:

so is the Ball of Life:

    http://i527.photobucket.com/albums/cc354/CandyB101/CandysPiccies2005.jpg

    POEM:

    The Ball of Life
    Suffering from Stress:
    Fondle it constantly.
    Need to relieve your anger:
    Throw it at someone.
    Short of a massage:
Roll it around the bottom of your feet.
Lack of communication in your life:
Tell it your inner most secrets.
    Short of a good friend:
Paint a smiley face on it.
    Needing some unconditional love:
Throw it at a wall, it will always come back to you.
    Want to be less selfish:
Lend it to someone when you are not using it.
Want to be more aware of others, want to become more thoughtful:
Look after your ball, try to understand how it feels
to be kicked about, stood on and given away and
    abused.
    Want to be less judgemental:
Be happy with this gift, it's the thought that counts,
    not the cost.

Another idea I found on here somewhere is to put 4 - 5 glow sticks in a cello bag with the following poem:

Just snap the tube and you will spark
    A shining Fairy Light
It's magic powers will bring you luck
    And sparkle through the night

  • Abimonster2...what about batteries in a box....with a label saying present not included or words to that effect!

I have a fair this evening at a small nursery....I always use the first fair of the year as a trial fair to check what I have forgotten and what I need to do for next one (in 2 weeks time) so I always try to make it a small one.
however apparently they have sold out of tickets!!!! Only 8 stalls in a tiny room. fingers crossed some bits should go. I mainly do baby bits (nappy cakes) but also do pamper hampers, and othere crafty bits to bulk it out and get some sales at each fair. Really enjoyed flying pigs thread at christmas was full of inspiration!
if anyone wants a peek at a good blog try Quirkygenius at blogspot. www.quirkygenuis.blogspot.com i think. Is one of the mums at our boys school.
Trying to earn some pennies from crafting again this year!

  • There are some great ideas here for getting us all organised for Christmas 2012. To that end. I'm hoping someone will be able to come up with a suggestion for me. Each year I make a set of 50 small gifts for adults[ mixed men and women] in one workplace. I've done knitted washcloths with a nice soap, mini christmas stockings holding sample sized toiletries, a book-swap box, with 50 different books, giftwrapped and book-crossing labels............. Last year I needed a quick fox so it was a huge fruit hamper.
This year I'm determined to get sorted in good time. Have already got little gift bags ready - just need ideas of what to put into them! I try to avoid sweets, as they're healthcare professionals, aside from that, I'd be really appreciative of ideas ;)
Right, it's time I went and read some more posts. bfn
