    Hi
Does anyone know where I can buy large pegs to make as note holders. I wanted to make some for a disorganised friend who has a new job! I can use normal sized washing line pegs, but really wanted the bigger ones. Many thanks. Fi x

Hobbycraft sell the really large pegs.

May I pick your brains please crafty ladies for a hot glue gun recommendation? I'm not much of a crafter but would like to become one, so I want something that isn't the cheapest and likely to fall apart but costs as little as possible. If you see what I mean?
I got my glue gun from Wilk.. It is by Bostik and seems okay for me. I used it when sticking chicks, feathers etc on Easter bonnets - I supervised my two DGC - I hovered over them!

When our youngest got married a friend did all of the flowers, fresh ones. They looked amazing. She used a glue gun to fasten daisies to the grasses in the arrangements at the front of the church. It looked like there were daisies tumbling over the arrangement. It looked amazing. Great use of a glue gun. She also stuck flowers to the pew ends! Afterwards the glue simply peeled off.

I have bought a couple of glue guns over time, my friend has bought several over a period of a few years and I had asked his advice. He said the cheap glue guns done just as well as he found the small piece attached at the end of glue guns tends to become damaged and fall off after good use, so cheaper ones seem to be just as good. I've had mine for quite a long time now, I dare say it just depends on what you are using it for etc but I seen one last week in homebargains for £2.99 and its slightly bigger than my other one and I may just pick it up anyways :)
  • after all of last years inspiring pictures of advent calanders i decided i would like to make one for my mum this year

i have started to collect small-ish items i can use
something she can open everyday and it will make her smile
a new pair of earrings, small gifts like that
and nearer the time i shall make small handmade soaps etc
i thought maybe things like the hot choc/snowman soup for 1 type things

    i REALLY like this idea
    (the red and white buckets)

    http://www.stuff-and-nonsense.net/2011/12/advent-calendar.html

the buckets are £1.20 each so i am going to experiment painting peat pots and decorating those

they are slightly bigger so i thought instead of stringing them, getting her a small growing christmas tree and hanging them on that, and putting a bauble in each pot as well so she can decorate her tree as she goes

but thats about as far as i have gotten
does anyone have any other ideas to display/give her them?
i dont want to string them up as i know she wont want to put pins in her walls:eek:

Ooh I love the bucket idea midnight. Might have to use that for my mum and mum in law. Can't think what to put in them yet other than hearing aid batteries! Lol. Both are turned 90 and are always needing them.

Just thought how about making a facecloth cupcake or flower to go in 1. My mum wears pop socks so might buy some of them
