Thai brides are often seen as bought brides, or a marriage of convenience.

Although probably more than a few genuine couples get that thrown at them due to nothing but stereotyping. I have noticed that most of the younger lads I know have a huge thing for Asian women, particularly Japanese women.

It's not just the young lads, it is hard to deny they are naturally beautiful

I know a few men who've married Asian/Eastern European women and almost exclusively, they are men who, without being cruel, have struggled to find a partner in the UK (or they're blokes who've lost a lot in a divorce and are very bitter). These men are the sort who don't like 'independent women' - by that I mean that they are generally men who think that women shouldn't answer back or have an opinion, that women should bow down to their every whim and need, and should be a goddess in the kitchen and a tart in the bedroom. From experience, these are the kind of blokes who moan about 'women's lib', and who think that a woman's sole purpose should be to cater to a man's every need.

I often feel very, very sorry for the women in these relationships but having spoken to a few, most of them are pretty smart, and know exactly what they can gain if they play along for a few years.

I've known of a couple who were, well I don't know full details but she came back from the Philippines with him and it wasn't a holiday romance. They'd been together for years, had grown up children and seemed happy enough by the time I knew them though.

It does happen, and it may seem odd to us, but as long as both parties are happy, well, who cares?

I don't see it myself, but I seem to be in a very small minority of men who doesn't have a thing for Asian women.

Of course beauty is in the eye of the beholder, personally I find their natural beauty stunning , without the need for this fake nails, tan , coloured hair , metal and ink blah blah, (and I ain't seen a fat one yet :o) I do not know any personally , hmm may just search the internet for a bride :)

I dislike the fake tan and all the rest culture too. Never understood the barbie doll type fixation that many have either. What attracts us to specific types is anyones guess.

It is true for the most part they do tend to be slim.

Callie I can see you point, although I'm not sure how oldish you are, me I was a young man in the eighties, and at the time in around our circles, it was very materialistic, if the bloke didn't have a house and car, he was not getting into a relationship and people were splitting up to 'upgrade' years on some of the 'trend' seems to remain.
I was commenting to a young lad at work, how he should be laughing with all the gorgeous women of his age around, his response was "unless you are a footballer they don't wanna know" :o
I remember chatting with my 75 yr old neighbour about similar cisrcumstances, he replied " you think it was any different in our days?"
So whilst it may seem the older chap cannot get a woman more locally, there maybe benefits (eg lack of bad attitude) that are appealing.
Also a lad I know is with an asian wife, I don't think he is yet 30, but she has son's his age, so it is not always the older bloke and a young thai bride :o

I do know a couple of men who have done very badly in divorce settlements from their Thai wives. One man in particular was (and probably still is) a very disturbed individual.
    Been away for a while.

Those men who don't think asian women have just as much a fixation for nails, hair extensions and beauty products are clearly men who have not spent any time around asian women :)
