The Completely Crazy 2012 Clothes Challenge

Have had to lash out on a new waterproof, the old one has given up the ghost. It's had a good life; the downfall was that it didn't have a pleat in the back so t lining got strained when I walk. Went for a slightly shorter style to compensate. Snuck it in on the last day of September though!:D‘Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.’ David Lynch.

I'm here to declare a no spend September too :j
(can't compete with Antwacky's 9 month marathon though!)
I have £15 left in my budget and I am determined to keep it! I will need to avoid the shops altogether though because autumn is my weakness. I love new boots and nice knitwear and the shops will be full of them.
(The 2nd January I plan to be in the shops to make up for it!)No more buying unnecessary toiletries 2018

Who is up for an October callenge?
DM
ME! I intend to spend nothing in October or November and as long as I don't lose too many inches, I'm hoping the dress I bought for my birthday in June will still fit for all the christmas parties:D
Oh, and I went into Matalano on Friday to buy DH some pjs AND refrained from buying anything foe myself

Hi All,
Managed another no spend month in September :j, so 2012 running totals were:-
Cash–£0/150 spent
House Of Fraser Vouchers – £36/122
M&S Vouchers – £31/50
Total spend for 2012 – £67
NSFeb, NSMar, NSApr, NSMay, NSJune, NSAugust, NSSeptember
However, I've had to replace my slippers [£14] as the soles were broken (no, I don't have a pipe to go with them
), and also took the opportunity to purchase some new dark socks [7 pairs for £12] to replace ones that were very worn out. Got them all in M&S (good quality), using up my remaining vouchers. Have also uploaded the purchases into Consumer Pulse to get £1 back.
So I am declaring a net overall spend of £25, £19 from M&S vouchers and £6 from cash - my first cash spend of the year.
I've also built up a further £20 in House Of Fraser vouchers via Consumer Pulse, but have left my 2012 allowance at £122, as I'm not looking to revise the budget upwards - I'll save these (and any unspent vouchers) for 2013.
Hence, running totals as of today are:-
Cash–£6/150 spent
House Of Fraser Vouchers – £36/122
M&S Vouchers – £50/50
Total spend for 2012 – £92
PS
Apologies to darwins_mum, as this blows me out of the October challenge
- but at least I've managed 7 no spend months thus far, which isn't too bad

I've done it again, spent £20 on a cardi I didn't need while out shopping with DD yesterday. It's a lovely cardi and I'm wearing it now but I just don't seem to have any willpower at all

I'll update my sig. Anyone want to give me a kick up the ...? I need one.

Belated update.
Happy to report a no-spend in September.
It's that time of year again, so this week all my summer stuff is being put away (again) and the winter stuff is being brought out (again :rotfl:) it's time to start wrapping up warm. :snow_grin0 -
Oh dear I completely forgot about this clothes challenge and spent loads recently!
I had an unpaid internship in the summer and I didn't have any corporate attire except one pair of black trousers and an unmatchng blazer that's too small, and no shirts... I ended up 'getting into' office wear, even after the internship had finished I'm still buying 'work clothes' to build up this work wardrobe lol
M&S black office dress £45
M&S shirt £25
M&S shirt in blue £25
Banana Republic suit £70 ( reduced from like £280 )
Banana Republic suit in black stripes £55
Zara dress £40
Next trousers £28
Episode suit £60 (House of Fraser ebay outlet)
Linea suit £33
Austin Reed shirts (omg such good quality) x 2, from their outlet store, £50 but boyfriend paid as it was my birthday
Austin Reed shirts x 2 in white, £50 (they are normally £70 each )
Austin Reed Prince of Wales suit, £86 (online clearance + code)
The same Zara dress in grey and black £80
Austin Reed trousers suit from ebay £24
Austin Reed blazer from ebay £13
I'm shocked at the amount I spent but hopefully it'll help me land a job when I finish my course, won't have to run around the shops like a headless chicken the week before interviews:)0 -
Hey everyone,
hope all is good with you all & sorry for not being around much; work life is crazy mad at the moment & DD recently became teenager so we had a fun dance party to celebrate which took up lots of time & scary amounts of money to organise !
I confess to having lost count of my clothes spending, although it has all been via ebay & I have finally got around to selling some of my stuff which kinda counteracts it
... I have a lot more to shift but am having a weekend of doing nothing after 4 weeks of manic busy ness !
This will be my last year of running the Clothes Challenge. I have enjoyed it so much over the last 4 years, but I confess that since becoming DF myself, I'm not as strict with my budget as I used to be & feel rather fraudulent even running the challenge at times
.
I have learned so much along the the way & although I still love buying new stuff; these days it tends to be via ebay or online via cashback sites rather than direct shopping int town & I am so grateful to every one who has joined in & shared their tips, their spends & I applaud & tip my (very stylish) hat to those who have amazing success at resisting sartorial temptations :A
Anyway, we still have plenty of time left to save some money this year & I'd like to welcome Goldblend to our happy band & to congratulate those of you who have achieved yet another month of No Spending.
You're all fab, :iloveyou:

Hi Lula-Hula,
I'm sorry to read that this is going to be your last Crazy Clothes Challenge, but I totally understand, and in a way I know what you mean. It's ages since I've bought any new clothes and I really don't have any inclination to buy any so I also feel a bit of a fraud.
But doing the challenge has been great and really did keep me on the straight and narrow in the early years.
I hope you will still be around until Christmas at least, so we can all chink our glasses and toast each and every member past and present.

Hi again,
fear not, I shall see the challenge through to the end of the year - even if I left my budget & my senses half way through
. I just wanted to give you plent fo warning so you can chat amongst yourselves & see if anyone wants to take over & actually, Kerfuffle I was thinking that you'd be ideal to run the challenge next year as you're a long time member :A & possibly far more appropriate a leader than myself :rotfl:
See below :
Yesterday I popped in to town to buy new bedding & having left Debenhams with lovely new duvet cover I then entered a trance like state & the next thing you know I'm leaving H&M with a bag containing 3 tops & my purse is £24 lighter
My cotton t shirt type tops seem to suffer from this bizarre affliction of developing little holes in the abdomen area ? It's weird & very annoying as tops that are in otherwise perfect condition & would last for years are being ruined. I thought it might be moths so have cedarwood blocks all over the wardrobe, but it doesn't seem to have made any difference.
I cannot fathom it & one of my colleague is suffering the same thing & I've noticed that some of my ironing customers have the same issue too, so it's widespread.
What is this bizarre phenomenon :huh:0
