Yes, oh yessy, yes, yes; it's that time of year again :j
The time of year when I can just sense that some of you are either doing physical battle in the shops, some are hovering over the 'pay now' button online & the veterans of past challenges are sat there quite content with what they already have :A.
For me, 2011 has been an 'experimental' year in terms of all things clothes, shoes & accessories. I've never previously counted what I spend on DD throughout the year, so that was interesting  . There was a whole new school uniform to be bought; not so interesting, but rather costly.
I had a rough budget in mind for the both of us, but managed to exceed it (quite considerably in fact ). Still, the majority of my own purchases were via ebay & about 85 % succesful. The remaining 15% were either donated on to family or friends or charitized. I do get a bit competitive, & on more than one occasion have gone over my initial bid; just so that I win
. This is not always a succesful strategy - the raincoat I bought nearly a year ago for more than twice my original bid makes me look like Inspector Gadget - :rotfl:
I bought many lovely frocks, as after years of wearing jeans / trousers, I am now embracing my feminine side & reckon that you just can't go wrong with a dress that fits well, flatters your colouring & shape & puts a bit of a sashay in your stride
I'm keen for a new pair of boots, but refuse to buy a pair that aren't quite perfect, just because they're cheaper than the ones I really love & want. I'm therefore saving all my £2 coins towards a new pair for autmn/winter 2012, so not including the money saved towards those as part of my budget.
EVERYTHINGelse is in the budget though, and I mean EVERYTHING; clothes, shoes, lingerie, swimwear ( ha ha ha) bags, belts, scarves ... the whole shabang.
I'm not doing a budget, as such, for DDs clothes & shoes, she's still growing & wearing stuff out, but I will be keeping a record of my spends.
My budget for 2012 is to be £100  + any gifted money, vouchers or those earned as survey rewards.
Yes I can do this; I have plenty of everything, but my white tops, t-shirts, shirts etc will need to be replaced at some point.
So who's joining me ?
You don't have to stick to £100, you can set your own budget if you really think you can't manage on £100; but I bet you could if you tried ( pregnancy , medical situations / accidents aside).
Membership list to follow in post number 2 ...

Count me in... I have more clothes than I need to be honest and as OH and I are in the final sprint of saving for a deposit on a house, any savings on unnecessary clothing will be welcome! I not sure I am ready to set a limit as such but count me in and lets see how I get on...Well lets see - I dip in and out of MSE all the time but I still come back - have done since 2007!!!

Hello wit40iwtwan,
it sounds as though you have a very valid reason for not spending too much on clothes. Welcome to the challenge I'll sign you up to the list immediately0 -
Hi all
I would like to join this challenge. I'm going to aim for £300 for the year as I think I have a wedding to go to and might need clothes for this.
I know this is a higher than £100 but don't want to set myself up for a fall:D0 -
Count me in. £100 for me, not including buying for the kids though. I am trying to lose weight, but will not be updating my wardrobe for a while until the weight comes off.PAD Maker0

Can I join as well please? More clothes than I know what to do with. I'll go for £100 for myself - it's almost certainly more including the kids.Ninja Saving Turtle0

Can i join please? i'm setting a budget of £100 plus any other money i earn in surveys, ebaying or if i get any cash in hand work. I really do need a massive clearout. I do not need two wardrobes of clothes considering i rarely wear most of it! My biggest weakness is horse riding stuff..in fact horse stuff in general! I know i have at least 6 pairs of jods that fit. i will not be buying anymore. i wont. the only thing i actually need is bra's. I've changed shape yet again (4th time in a year) and nothing seems to fit properly. i seem tp be staying at this weight for awhile now so time to get the girls sorted out!Was debt free then ex walked out and COVID hit.0
-
yes please - £75 - really going to cut down as I have a wardrobe full of clothes that are, unfortunately, to small as need to lose weight. Therefore the challenge will also encourage me to get rid of those suplus pounds:jLBM August 2011. DFD somewhere post [STRIKE]2025[/STRIKE]2022
Total debts October 2011 circa GBP 17,700 September 2018 GBP 0 DMP with Payplan
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger:T:D:D:D0 -
You sound like me standingtall. I have clothes ranging from size 14 through to 20 in my wardrobe and at the moment I can only get into the larger ones unfortunately. Hopefully this is a bit of an incentive to get back on the wagon foodwise.Ninja Saving Turtle0
