oh heck! I spent the whole of 2011 lurking on the CCC thread saying I'd join for 2012 and now it seems to have actually come round... I don't think my weakness is buying clothes (though OH might disagree) although I have had the chance to go to the States a couple of times last year where I did splash out on some of my fav brands a little. In terms of things I NEED, there prob isn't a lot, I do wear my jeans a lot but don't need a uniform for smart office work wear so I can say that they do all generally get worn at one time or another. I prob do need a wardrobe clearout and will be car booting when the weather picks up.

Ok, *takes deep breath* put me down for £500 (nice round figure) and i'll see how i go. I'm not going to beat myself up about it if I do go over but it will encourage me to take note of what I am buying more than I prob do (although I do keep a spending diary). I'll be counting from the 1st Jan so Sales shopping won't count :D and there is a particular hoodie I do want and have budgeted for, so if I buy after 1st, I won't be counting it...or is that cheating already :o

I will count underwear (though I have enough socks for several years) but not accessories as I rarely treat myself to those anyway (last one being a £2 ring from Pr*marni)

Gift money won't count (although b'day not until Sept!) and neither will vouchers from surveys etc, although I tend to save those towards amazon vouchers for xmas prezzies anyway.

    Good luck everyone

    Hi!
I'm in for the sum of £250. If I need any more money, it's got to come from sales and items of clothing can be made from the fabric stash.

Okay, after a 'discussion; with DH about this, I will go for

    £200

for both of us for the whole year :)

I have lots of summer dresses I got this year for our first ever holiday abroad, so I don't see me needing much during the summer. I have loads of jeans and tops that I wear all the time as I don't have a uniform at work. I wear the same few things to work, then my pj's at home, so I really don't wear over 3/4 of the clothes I have. I buy clothes from Primarni mostly, so if we do need some things, hopefully it won't cost that much!

Plus my birthday in a few weeks, Im asking for clothes this year, so this will help the budget!
Can't think of anything smart to put here...

    Hello & welcome to you all;

mrsdwhite, aberdeensaver, but_do_i_need_it, kerri gt ( well done for joining in this year ;)), short_bird (nice to see you here :D) & zepsgal.

Thank you for joining in & if you have any tips or questions do share or ask. This is (I think) the 4th year of the challenge & we've built a bit of knowledge between us all.

I'm a big fan of dyeing clothes that have faded, to give them a longer life. I regularly do a black refresher which costs about £5 & for me does about 4 tops or a pair of jeans & maybe 2 vest tops. I also have a jacket which I bought years ago when it was an off white colour, but it got grubby so quickly it drove me mad, although it's a great fit & very warm, so I dyed it green. I never really liked the colour though, so then decided to try out purple & if that didn't work out then just charitize it. It's a fab colour & I love it, my littlest DD also loves it now & is desperate to grow into it !
So, dyeing it twice probably cost me about £11, but that's still way cheaper than a new lined jacket would have cost :D
  • Can you please put me down for €75, I really have loads of clothes that do not fit and have to lose 2 stone to get into a bridesmaid dress that has been bought off the peg, so if i lose this weight, will have a brand new wardrobe almost!!!

    Thanks.:D
Personal loan €4685, CREDIT CARD €1665/2466 Overdraft €350, Family loan €2500 =TOTAL: €9,200/€10,365 as of Dec 2011

  • Hi, I would also like to join in this challenge if I may? Can you put me down for £300 for the year please, starting 1st January 2012.

I have waaay too many clothes which are currently struggling to fit in to the wardrobe and with a laundry basket overflowing I know they desperately need to be sorted. As my wardrobe is jam packed I tend to wear the same things over and over which, once worn get washed and then worn and then washed .... leaving the same stuff in the bottom of the laundry basket there for a looong time and my wardrobe doors barely being opened. But yet I still tend to buy new clothes, it's crazy!

I am off work this week so I will try to spend time sorting through my wardrobe and getting on top of the washing pile, possibly make an inventory of what I own. Maybe if it is written down it may shame me into starting to wear some of the stuff?? Here's hoping! I like the idea of the 'freedom days' - think I might need to start that considering how little I wear from my wardrobe!!

Good luck everyone that has signed up so far for the challenge!
