It's my birthday today and I was given a £15 M&S voucher so I spent it plus another £49.50 :o
    So my total is now £465.70 / £500 :o:o
Trouble is they had jeans that fit me, and some nice new tops, and I was on my own...
Apparently I have no willpower at all :(

    Debt-free and Proud!
    :ohello all!

*sneaks in red faced* I've gone over my annual budget :o

Had a trip to Matalano as I really needed some work shoes AND only work shoes. Came out with a black jumper (£10) which I can wear over 2 blouses I bought a while back in a sale for work but were a touch too tight (did want a sleeveless tank top style but haven't seen them anywhere) Then I bought a sleeveless cardi (£16) just because I really liked it in an autumnal burnt orange colour which I'd seen before but resisted as I had nothing it would go with... so I bought 2 long sleeved tops too(£5 each) :o

I can hear you all tut-tutting at me as I type ;) but I did buy some work shoes (£18) :D

It all makes £54 added to my total taking me £50 over my budget :(
  • I haven't been on this thread in ages as I haven't been buying anything but I had to get a few new bits for work. Got a top, trousers and ballet pumps for £55.

Still under budget for the year which is great.

Have just checked my budget, and excluding the spends I had in the US where I had a gift card and already had some dollars, I'm still not quite over budget....does mean buying nothing for the rest of the year and can't really see that happening - although work isn't having an xmas party as such (boo to that) but does mean I don't need to buy a frock / shoes / bag or other item so silver lining to that one!

  • I can see from your signature you are losing weight at the moment which is great - are these clothes in your new size? If they are then that's fair enough but don't forget your haul equates to £4 approx to each item , now I don't know what make the items are but if good quality named brands in good nick , fine but if supermarket cheap copies etc then not so good.. Plus if you still plan to loose weight be careful not to over buy clothes in sizes you won't be in for long

So a couple of ideas I had were
    1) Return to CS if still have receipt those not really needed.
    2) Pull out 11 items of clothing from current wardrobe similar to ones bought and flog them on ebay to make money back then it cancels it out.
    3) Go shopping in own wardrobe - get friends round get their opinion(lure them with promise of a unique personal shopping experience inc glass of wine) of what to keep, swap, flog and charity pile - and make your mates take them away to CS for you there and then! And if they ask you to do same - great - you might end up with some freebies.
    4) Make yourself wear all the items at some point (not all together at same time:rotfl:) for the rest of the month if you decide to keep them .

Don't beat yourself up about it - just learn from it and get as much wear out of them if you decide to keep them.

  • Well I am now on day 28, and I have £7 to declare. hat, gloves and scarf x 2 from poundland and an emergency pair of socks when I got caught out in the rain in sandals (school girl error). I am still chuffed with myself, especially as I have used the money saved to pay for tuition.
I will be forced to not spend anything in October as I will be out of contract, therefore buying clothes won't be a priority.
take care all, and keep up the good work.
