  • Ok I promised my first weigh in would be on the 1st and it was worse than I though 12st 8lb and I am aiming for the full 2 stone.

Now to saving the 2 grand. I am calculating our annual budget today so I am giving this challenge a great deal of thought. I will let you know when I have formulated my cunning plan
My finances are work in progress.
    Normal veiwing will resume shortly
  • Evening all

Had a weird night, up at 5am when nephew came home and ended up giving him a lecture on how to make the most of his life - 18 year old in first year at Uni. Then couldnt get back to sleep so was watchng stuff on iplayer and reading DFW diaries...

Had vouchers to use for Warwick castle which ended today and were totally free entry via local newspaper...BUT the free day out cost about £30:
£6 in parking, about £3 in petrol, £10 for Merlin attraction, £6 for refillable hot drinks cup, £1.80 for some crisps and £3 in gift shop (cheapest possible things in there).

Methinks I have not yet has my real lightbulb moment! Even though I always try to do things in the cheapest way possible, I always feel bad and spend money on non-essentials (hot chocolate, gift shop & crisps!)

and now I really want to get the half price merlin passes (£75pp) so was trying to talk DH into getting them becuase that's all our family days out with kids sorted then.. birthdatys, eid etc...

Come on light bulb..come to me!
  • The real weight loss attempt starts this week, now that Christmas & New Year are over.

I'm doing slightly better on the savings attempt - I have £20 so far. I've just put a loads of CDs on Music Magpie, so I'll add that to the total once I have the cheque.

I have a savings pot with coins under 50p value, but I'll continue to put the money in there and just count it up at the end of the challenge, so I won't add it to my total until then.

I've just done my annual budget as well so hopefully I'll have some savings from there to add to the pot.
  • Ive just set up an esavings account on my main current account and called it - "Bloaters 2K"!! Have got £79 in it as I transferred money in from my other linked accounts and have left them in round numbers to get this 79, so I can feel like I have started this challenge!:T

:) Good evening Mr Bloater! I know I'm too late to be added to the sheet but I'd really like to tag along if you don't mind. I aim to lose 2 stone by the end of April and save 2 grand by then too. I've added my stats to my signature just to make it public and keep me motivated ;). I'll start my 2+2 journey tomorrow morning with my carefully planned breakfast and then an hours workout on the treadmill :D. Hmmm, I hope I can keep up with myself! Good luck everyone

Ok, I've now weighed myself, so my estimated start weight of 12stone 7 is actually 12stone 5 3/4. Half a bag of sugar less to lose than I thought, and I'll go with today as my start date... Weigh in on Sundays, work travel permitting.

Thank you Mr B for not only setting this up but also using some of your valuable holiday time on us. I jumped on the scale tonight and 22st 4. Not sure how often I will weight myself at this point probably quiet often to begin with. Started the milk diet today and first day was very bad until I found out that I am allowed Slim Fast now they tell me.
