    Morning All,

As a subscriber to Mr. B's diary I am definitely going to join in this as I have to lose 2st (+ more) and want to get rid of those flipping credit cards!

I am going to copy Mr B's spreadsheet thingy as I'm not allowed to join the full list :p Also not starting the diet until next week as I don't do anything first week of January as I always feel you're destined to fail.

When I quit smoking it was the 17th Jan and is nearly 3 years now :T

I am reporting in for the start of my challenge.

Start weight is 11 stone 3lbs, so I would like to lose 1 stone 3lbs to get to target weight of 10 stone. It is my sister's wedding in two weeks, so it would be nice to lose a couple of pounds for that.

£18 so far towards my Ipod target (£12 in £2 coins and another £6 in random change counted up.) I have some items ready for the next Ebay free listing and I have completed a survey today worth £1, but I'm not at the pay out level with that company yet.

Just been paid £6.33 from Quidco to start me on the road to saving £200 :j
  • Good luck to everyone. I'm starting my healthy eating just as soon as I finish off all of my Christmas sweeties.

My aim is to be fit and healthy so that I'm not fat and forty (birthday end of March).:rotfl::rotfl:

Just weighed myself and found out I am paying for Christmas - that same Christmas in which I've been kidding myself I haven't indulged. Up to 9st 10.5. :( That's the highest I've been for nearly two years.
I need to be very good and try not to eat more than a smidgeon more Christmas cake (a bought one that turns out to taste very good but not agree with me - suspect it's the wrong type of alcohol but as this was a bargainaceous cake off the market I can only guess it's probably brandy). I've still got most of a spray can of 'light' cream which I will have to save for treats, I really have been good with the mince pies (2.5 so far I think!) and then there's the chocolate...
*does mental inventory*... which I will just have to eke out.

Interestingly, I just looked up the spelling of 'eke' and found this:

eke 1 (emacr.gifk)tr.v. eked, ek·ing, ekes 1. To supplement with great effort. Used with out: eked out an income by working two jobs.
    2. To get with great effort or strain. Used with out: eke a bare existence from farming in an arid area.
    3. To make (a supply) last by practicing strict economy. Used with out.

[Middle English eken, to increase, from Old English emacr.gifcan; see aug- in Indo-European roots.]

My sins are finding me out. Eking out chocolate actually means increase. How the Middle English knew about my waistline, I have not the faintest idea, but I will bow to their superior insight and acknowledge that eked out chocolate is still chocolate, and leads to increase.

I will add one thing in the interests of honesty: chocolate is still chocolate, and that's why I'm not going to throw it away. :D

One more thing that's probably contributed: the lurgy. Turns out work has it too. I'm finding I feel better if I have small amount of carbs every couple of hours. The key would seem to be keeping that 'small' element to the fore, not a generous bowl of porridge at four in the morning. Lesson learned for tonight's shift.

I was thinking about this last night (thank you 3am insomnia!) and I will count my 2k as follows:

    1. Any quidco/PCR/e-bay/amazon/nectar/clubcard gains
    2. Tax payments/refunds - I owe them £200, DH is due at least 6k if I win an argument but more likely £1k from his overpayments
    3. Overtime
    4. DH consultancy/Etsy/e-bay, gives me an incentive to support him
    5. Virtual savings - any savings on my budgeted £5 a week pocket money, and £450 a month grocery challenge - double whammy cos I usually fritter £4 a week on a Friday macdonalds
    6. I will write my gap in the market niche e-book. I will, I will, I will. It needs knowledge and research (that I have, and have done) not writing ability and the capacity to be witty which I haven't got.
Good listing hex2...still to work out how I can save £2K....like the sound of including the card/voucher etc gains. Really need to look into setting up an Etsy shop...need to make more things though too. I get my "craft room" back next weekend once DS1 heads back to Uni...yes, all right, it's his bedroom (but not for much longer!) :rotfl:

Going to sit down with DH tomorrow and see what we can do about our budget...truth to tell, I am the more spendy one, so I really need to curb this habit!! Going to see if we can find enough cash to try and live on this month...well at least the grocery budget, rather than using the CC all the time. This will hopefully help to curb the overall spending and then leave us with some money to save at the end of the month.

Now that would be nice :)

Weighing in tomorrow, don't think it will be good news, have a funny feeling I have eaten far too much and not exercised [STRIKE]at all[/STRIKE]
    enough!! :o

    See you all tomorrow x

  • Well, I went for a long walk with a couple of slow shambling jogs thrown in and got absolutely soaked so had a lovely warm soak in the bath when I got home!!

Had a large but healthy meal as most of it was veggies and am feeling really motivated!

Oops, gone up to past my starting weight. Have got 100 items ready to go on eBay - just a question of listing the darn things now. House declutter today might reveal some other prizes.
Here's how it stands this morning....
