We have a DC04 and I cannot remember when we bought it. It no longer rotates, but the suction is great, even with DIY rubble!!
The only time it loses suction, is when something gets caught in one of the pipes, then I have a few minutes respite, and enjoy stripping it down - the missus thinks I am mad!

    It no longer rotates,

If the brushbar no longer rotates, it probably just needs a new drive belt. They are available fairly cheaply as a spare. If you have carpet, you'll notice that the rotating brushbar makes a huge difference in lifting dust out.

i have tried to take it sort of apart and the problem seems to be with the extendable hose when the machine is locked to use upright or machine switched off the hose is lose and flexible but as soon as you try to use the hose part it wont extend and when you try to extend it the machine tips over and you cant use it cause it wont extend. it seems as if the suction is so intent that the hose wont pull out unless you want the machine falling over this has only just started happening.

Ring the helpline, tell them the problem, have the hoover beside you, they talk you through everything and are very patient while you take bits apart.
It should last longer than a year.

The only problem I find is that my Dyson is so heavy when taking it upstairs. But I love the bagless aspect, I hate emptying bags and I think they would be expensive to buy.

Also have a good read of the instruction book.

What a lot of silly sausages you are. I have a DC01 for years and years, and like Trigger's Broom...it's had a new motor, a new hose, a new brush, and a fair few rubber band things. But did you know Dyson provide a complete in-home repair service including parts - very good it is too.

So bring you're beloved dysons out of the loft.
My Mind wanders, if found please return.

I have this one; it's amazing! In fact, after using it for the first time on my stair carpet I discovered my stair carpet actually had a colour (other than 'cat hair'). Good choice.

    :D
Everything was beautiful and nothing hurt. So it goes.

IMO you made the best choice, the S6220 is one of the best cleaners, it will serve you for many years and the price is at list £20 cheaper than Argos.

The DC01 is no longer supported by that though (only in the last few months). I've finally retired mine having tried fixing the errant wheel for the last 2 years, plus various other bits had dropped off and it started cutting out after 10 minutes.

After more than 15 years of faithful service I've invested in a newer model.
