The original post wasn't about deterring men who were chatting her up, it was about inappropriate touching. Saying that if a man touched you would be alright if he was good looking is sending a very mixed message!

That is exactly what I meant. Maybe the OP's daughter just chose un unfortunate phrase though. I didn't mean to "darken her character" (dramatic much?) and I certainly didn't mean that women are to blame for inappropriate behaviour from men! Just how January20 got that from my post, I have no idea.

I agree with you.

Some great advice already which I won't repeat. However I just wanted to suggest a large scarf worn over the head when travelling late at night to cover up her hair/face so it's less obvious how attractive she is. I have done this in the past, keeping a pashmina style scarf in a bag for travelling home on late trains. And then looking down, avoiding eye contact with any men travelling alone.
