Really what is a bloke of that age playing at 1) trying to start a fight at all and 2) kicking off on a young lad?

If anything he probably looked a d!ck himself in front of other people!

Well I have been told his wife is appalled by what he did so hopefully he's in her bad books.

    If who was 30?

There seems to have been at least two thugs involved in this ridiculous affair!

Regardless of his age, he was threatened to have his 'f***ing head smashed in' or words to that effect.

Seriously just leave it now. It was a bit of banter between two fully grown adult men in a pub. It happens all the time.

All you have is the word of your son and his friends, which will obviously be twisted in his favour. The copper has seen the CCTV and decided there is nothing to pursue. That says a lot to me.

I am not trying to make light of your feelings, but you are making a fool of your son.

There we go again, someone else who thinks a grown man is just a "young lad"!

I was going to add to that post 'before anyone says....' because it was so obvious someone would.

He's 21 yes but there is a big difference between a 21 year old man (happy?) and a 50 year old man (apart from 29 years before you come up with that one).

And any sensible person would realise that was a good time to put some distance between them!

Obviously your username is very apt as you appear unable to recognise there is a huge difference between a 50 odd year old bloke & a young lad who has just left education and started his first job.

Yes there is a big difference. The young man is getting into a row with someone who's old enough to be his father!

I agree that there is no point pursuing it though OP, the police won't help and it may make things worse if he knows your son called them (or you). He is best just avoiding that pub and hopefully it will all blow over.

Well, as my son has never been in trouble with the police this isn't an issue I can relate to.

When I arrived at the pub to pick my son up I was advised by people leaving the pub that the attack was totally unprovoked and that was when I decided the incident should be reported to the police.

I also made sure I kept out of the way when the police arrived to speak to my son as I wanted him to deal with it himself, however the way he was treated by the officer who attended I feel, is totally different to how he would have been treated if he was older with more life experience & this is the reason why I feel inclined to become involved now.

To be honest, I think most of it is your fault,
When I picked my children up at the pub, I stayed in the car, they got in, we went home.
Everything that happened after that was because you opened the door of your car and got out of it. You inflamed the situation from then on, speaking to witnessese, calling the police, etc. etc. Once you can see that perhaps you may allow yourself to butt out of your sons business, not once on here have you said what he feels about the whole situation, its all you, you, you.

It might have been much easier and swift if you had got out of the car, grabbed this bully by the balls and gave him a massive squeeze. followed by a well placed knee if you think that's the only language he understands. But please, allow your son to live and learn from his mistakes,
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
