Why would it concern me? Have you never heard of loss leaders?

There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.

They have special saver menus which have different offers on at different times.

Their burgers are 100% beef and cooked without added fat or oil. The only added fat (apart from the bun) in a cheeseburger comes from the cheese.

You bought beef, which had been prepared and carries the relative overhead cost, for less than a pound

That doesnt concern you? You cant buy unprepared beef in a supermarket that cheap

Why would it concern anybody? common sense tells you that you can't compare the two.

You don't see Ronald McDonald wandering around Asda buying mince for burgers. They buy huge amounts of beef straight from the farmers which means they get it at a low price. They're not going to make a huge profit on a burger but other burgers are a fair bit more expensive. Then they make the money on the drinks and fries etc.

A big mac is £2.50 for less that 1/4lb of beef, similar price to if you went to another cafe etc.

I guess this is where they make their money?

I see all the normal inaccurate information is flying around. There is sugar in all bread it's part of the process itcannot be more than a minimal amount as otherwise the yeast won't work correctly.

As with most fast food an occasional burger isn't going to kill you. The processed food people eat at home does. more damage.

Id imagine that those that choose not to eat crap like mc donalds tend to stay away from crap at home too

I went in yesturday in the drive thru and was shocked to see they had made an employee stand outside to take orders (it's freezing and windy outside!) The poor man was shivering and his nose was streaming.

I complained to the manager who said something along the lines of im sorry but all of my orders come from the manager above me and i'm not allowed to ask the employee to come back inside as I would get told off.

Poor guy! I decided to write a letter of complaint. But otherwise, food was consistent.

he was stood outside taking your order to speed up your waiting time, that way the cashier doesnt have to take your order and your cash, just your money.

the manager was right in saying that the employee wasnt allowed back in, when i managed in mcdonalds we always had to have someone outside taking orders between 8am-10am, 12-2pm and 5pm-7pm, and whenever it was busy, come rain or shine.

bit harsh, but thats the way mcds run im afraid.

I don't see the problem tbh. I don't complain to the council when the dustbin men collect my bins in the winter

I highly doubt a burger is a loss leader. Infact I remember back to my time there a long while ago being told by the managers the cost of a hamburger is about 5p. Comparing their beef to a supermarket selling beef isn't a fair comparison. It's like comparing the price of a bottle of coke and how much it costs them to use the coke syrup and soda water.

McDonalds, the place where some folks go to get a "meal" that is served in a cardboard or polystyrene box inside a brown paper carrier bag. The hot drinks are served in cardboard cups with a wooden stick to stir in the sugar and milk.

And they think this is good!
