McDonalds, gotta be the most consistently good company about these days?

Options
I've just been so pleased with everything about McDonalds, from service to quality! There isn't many large organisations out there these days that I consider to be exceptional and consistent across the board!

In the last year i've visited stores in London, Cardiff, Nottingham, Newark, Lincoln, Manchester, service stations ect. Can't even recall the last time i've been unhappy with a purchase!

Other companies on par with them, i'd say BHS.
Companies who aren't quite as consistent, but still pretty good as a whole: Costa, Pizza Express.

(Waiting for my dinner to cook, to thought i'd share a few thoughs since TV is crap :). Then on to wrapping the partners gifts.)

Not a McDonalds fan then?

No this is serious, a write it whilst finishing of my m Latte and a 99p chicken mayo (it's my starter :)). I seriously can't remember the last time I had a negative experience anywhere in the country with them and eat there several times per month!!

Last week I ordered a Fanta with a meal and got water - machine obviously faulty. I didn't realise until I got home.
When I used to order a plain burger they used to get it wrong 50% of the time... I don't even bother now.

McDonalds is good if you want basic food quickly but the only thing great about them is the opening times/convenience factor (when they get the order right). Sometimes the chips are cold or something's missing. I do still use them a lot (to my shame) and it's always edible but often something's not right. Wouldn't call them great.

OP is correct. McDonald's are absolutely consistent. It doesn't matter which franchise you go into you the menus and prices will be the same and the food will taste the same. It's all very well making flippant remarks like "McDonald's are consistently bad" in response to comments but if you like McDonalds then they're a great place to go to for fast food.

I do fully appreciate that some people will write all sorts of disparaging things about McDonald's now in their desperation to prove to exveryone else that McDonald's are sh1te and nobody should eat them for 1001 reasons. To those people I would say: try to remember that we all have a free choice.

And for the record I'm not a McDonald's fan although I very occasionally eat a Big Mac. Same as I eat the very occasional Burger King delicacy. Most of the time I eat healthy, normal food.

If you actually think about it mc donalds is consistent. There food if you like it and there service is the same wherever you go. They must be doing something right as they have continuing returning happy customers.

I don't eat at mc donalds haven't been in one for years but I can see they are doing something right.

  • Hmmm. Well I shall remain slightly sceptical that they are the "most consistently good company" but I take your point.

I always order a quarterpounder WITHOUTCheese when I go. It has to be made fresh, so is tender, not rubbery and piping hot.

Going to try it with a big mac, see if the same happens.

The food is ok, not fantastic, but adequate whilst out, theirblack coffee is lovely, just the right strength for me.

I agree, i'm not a huge fan but my kids are. For anyone with kids with faddy tastes, McDonalds is a godsend. If you're out and need to feed your kids, you know what you're going to get, every time. My kids love lots of other foods, Spaghetti Bolognese, Curries, etc, but these vary so much between restaurants, i've wasted so much money ordering food and it not being eaten as it's "not the same as usual". We visit McDonalds probably once every couple of months, if the kids had their way it would be every day, they're obviously doing something right aren't they ? Doesn't matter how many people say "ugh !" My guilty pleasure is their Chilli Chicken Wrap, i love it !

Forget what you think about their food in general, but think about where they were a few years back. Macdonalds branches in the UK were closing and their food was becoming old hat and everybody seemed to be putting the boot in about their food.

But Macdonalds are one of the few large companies not really affected by the credit crunch we have had.

They have varied their menus to cater not just for burger fans, but those who like healthier choices as well. Fruit, more chicken options and baguettes just a few of the options now available. The poundsaver menu is great value as well.

All the Macdonalds I've seen have had all the old fixtures and fittings removed and a selection of comfy type chairs is available in addition to the standard table and chair.

Even their advertising is a success with the slogan "I'm loving it", definately a winner and I've forgotten how many times, I've heard people whistle to or indeed sing along unknowingly to the jingle at the end of ads.

All in all anybody who knows anything about business will see that Macdonalds over the past 3 or so year, are one of a few success stories.
