Charging relatives for Xmas dinner

Sod upsetting her :mad::mad:
I would just not go, or even better have an alternative Christmas dinner and send her an invite (keeping with the spirit of Christmas of course:p)
I would never dream of inviting somebody to my house and expect them to pay, if they want to bring something then that is up to them, but I wouldn't ask.
Maybe that is why I am as poor as a church mouse :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Charging your own mum to make her dinner. Unbelievable!!!!!!Yearly Grocery Budget - £100.77/ £3500. January Treats Budget - £11.80 / £100.0

I say more fool the people who go. I certainly would not give any relative or friend any money for supplying me with a meal. I would rather starve
I think £30 per head is way over the top, and I'm gobsmacked anyone would charge that (or pay it).
However, we have Christmas dinner at my Mum's every year, there are usually at least a dozen of us there, and my Mum buys everything. So we agreed between us years ago that we would give her £10 per adult, and £5 per child once they were past toddler stage, towards all the food and drink. I'm pretty sure that probably nowadays doesn't cover everything she's bought, but she won't take more.0 -
:cool:
Me, my mum and dad always spend crimbo day with the bro and sil. We have ALWAYS been "charged"...everything is provided, drinks, food, nibbles, all cooked.
Parents stay for boxing day also. My Mum and Dad do not drink so my Dad would always tell me to "fill ma boots" as he had paid for a share!!!!:D
Earlier this year, my Dad died
so its just me and Mum going this time, but the same will apply.
I dont really see a prob as they are providing everything and I wouldnt expect them to do it for nothing...
HOWEVER having said that, I dont know how much my Dad used to hand over, so I mau be singing a diffeerent tune come boxing day:whistle::whistle:

I would tell her to jog on ! lol!!!
Last year my mum and sisters came for dinner. All i asked was for mum to cook and bring a chicken (no room in my oven and she doesnt like turkey or pork) which she was more than happy to do. And i asked my sister (20) to bring her own coca cola as no one else drinks it and it is all she will have.
All worked out well and i fed 9 of us.
This year we are going to the inlaws and i have OFFERED to make puddings. Fairy cakes and a Key Lime Pie i can make on xmas eve with DD and then i will make an apple crumble when we are there as i dont have a large enough dish at home0
